Bishops Down Primary School News www.bishopsdownprimary.org 20th May 2011 Dear Parents, Newsletter No. 16 Welcome back Year 6 We welcome back Year 6 pupils after their adventure on the Isle of Wight. Please have a look at the photos on the school website. Many thanks to John Tutt, Jane Clement, Kate Smith and Debbie Norman for volunteering to have a sleepless week! PSA Roles Belated congratulations to Simon Wyke who has taken over as Chair of the PSA and to Melissa Joyce who has taken on the role of Vice Chair. We wish them well as they take on the challenge. PSA Funds I am often asked what the money raised by the PSA is used for. The PSA usually fund a Yearbook for Year 6 leavers and have agreed to do so once again. A donation has been made to the school council and work to improve the lower junior toilets has begun, including the painting of murals. They have also agreed to assist in donating funds to improve outdoor learning. There are to be picnic tables outside junior classrooms and on the front field with parasols. The work by years 5 and 6 in the Woodland Walk has been fantastic, and there will be 2 gates purchased into and out of the walk. The landscape gardener will come in for another day to build a habitat environment. There is to be a wall-like structure by the new mound for role play, handstands, ball games etc. The early years are to have some new garden development, including the installation of vegetable beds.
