Brazilian Companies Attending Tiff – Toronto International Film Festival BRAZILIAN COMPANIES ATTENDING TIFF – TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2018 Cinema do Brasil aims to reinforce and expand the participation of Brazilian audiovisual productions in the international market, to encourage the development of co-productions and the distribution of Brazilian films abroad. It is an export program implemented in 2006 by the São Paulo’s Audiovisual Industry Guild (SIAESP) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), gathering today more than 175 companies. This directory contains information about the Brazilian films selected by TIFF 2018. It also brings information about the Brazilian film producers, distributor and sales attending the event.     Press kit 17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil Festival Opens Sept 30 th featuring two shows, seminars, and a weekly TV program Contemporary art productions from the worldʼs geopolitical South and the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliassonʼs work are the focus of the 17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil, due to open September 30th at SESC Belenzinho, SESC Pompeia and Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (the São Paulo State Art Gallery). Conversations with Eliasson and Karim Aïnouz will launch the intensive educational program of the Festival, which will include a weekly TV program on SESCTV and continue until January 2012. The diversity of artistic languages marks Southern Panoramas, an exhibition that maps out recent production from Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania.     UM PASSADO PRESENTE NO NORDESTE DO BRASIL: A HISTÓRIA E O CINEMA CONTEMPORÂNEO Keline Pereira Freire Mestranda pelo Programa de Pós-graduação Interdisciplinar em Cinema (PPGCINE/UFS) Bolsista (CAPES/FAPITEC) [email protected] O Nordeste, enquanto região, foi oficialmente constituída na década de 1940. No entanto, no que tange à concepção imagético-discursiva deste espaço do Brasil, o seu processo de instituição é muito anterior. A partir do século XIX e início do século XX, emergem diversos discursos que ressaltam a região como parte singular do Brasil. A obra de Gilberto Freyre e a literatura regionalista tem um espaço de destaque dentro da formação desta concepção. A noção de um Nordeste antimoderno, que emerge a partir desses discursos, vai repercutir nas diversas abordagens sobre a região e chega também ao cinema. A filmografia vista ao longo do século XX sobre a região é carregada de elementos que a engessam em um mundo rural e arcaico. Com exceções que incluem o Ciclo do Recife (1923-1931), as realizações do Cinema Novo (1950-1960) e alguns filmes que retratam o nordestino no espaço da cidade (1970-1980), vê-se a região quase sempre associada a elementos de pobreza e violência, e descontextualizada de seus problemas políticos e sociais. Entendemos que a produção cinematográfica vista a partir da Retomada (1995-2003) e no que se segue dela, a Pós-retomada (2003- até os dias atuais) traz obras que apresentam novas perspectivas sobre aspectos históricos da região. A partir dos dados da Agência Nacional de Cinema (ANCINE) e do acervo virtual da Cinemateca Brasileira, buscamos identificar nas produções vistas entre 1995 e 2018, filmes que abordam o Nordeste sob a perspectiva do passado, tanto por meio da reconstituição de fatos históricos, quanto pela presença nas tramas de conflitos que envolvem o passado da região ou de seus personagens.

    O real e o banal no cinema pernambucano contemporâneo Angela Prysthon Universidade Federal de Pernambuco [email protected] Resumo: Apresentaremos um breve histórico do cinema produzido no Recife, desde o mítico Ciclo do Recife nos anos 20, passando pelo período vanguardista do Super 8 na década de 1970, pela retomada dos 90 e pela adesão ao mainstream do cinema brasileiro, para enfim chegarmos ao conjunto de filmes (tanto ficções, como documentários) realizados por duas produtoras de jovens cineastas, a Símio Filmes e a Trincheira. O objetivo é investigar como os modos de aproximação ao real e a rejeição tanto do regionalismo, como do ponto de vista alegorizante, moralista e/ou sentimental que de certo modo predominaram nas gerações anteriores, puseram em marcha um conjunto de banalidades, que, paradoxalmente, desafiou a própria noção do banal. Thus, a discussion is opened between the contemporary, the sensitive and the fashion, under the interpretations of the authors Giorgio Agamben and Emanuele Coccia. The result of the research comes from the concepts and the microanalysis of four scenes examined through the methodology of filmic analysis of the image, according to Jacques Aumont and Michel Marie. It was possible to verify that the narrative of the work in analysis in the referring one to the contemporary world, the sensations and ruptures of stereotypes and paradigms.
