This Cuddeback camera is compatible with SD cards sizes 2GB to 64GB. Do not use SDXC cards. Micro SD cards will function with the proper adapter (usually included with the micro SD card). Treat your SD cards well. They are very sophisticated electronic devices made with billions of static sensitive transistors. Keep them dry and do not bend them. – Never insert a wet or damp SD card into your camera or computer – Internal Memory You can use this camera without an SD card. Up to 120MB of internal memory is available for image 2 3 Design Theory Cuddeback C & E model cameras have been designed to be as compact as possible, without compromising the performance, features, reliability, and image quality Cuddeback is known for. 1. User Interface is weather resistance and covered 1 with a sealing door. This resilient rubber/plastic door is more robust than a conventional hinge door. 4 2. The SD card fits into a socket in the bottom of the camera. This prevents water from entering the camera when you check your camera in the rain. 6 The SD card socket is not spring loaded. We 3 have found pull-out style sockets to be more 5 reliable. 3. The battery door and SD card door are secured with brass thumb screws instead of breakable latches. 4. The Fresnel lens is user replaceable. 5. The Genius mount is inexpensive and 2 replaceable. If abused by a person or animal, the bracket will break before the camera. 4 5 6. DC INPUT – Only use Cuddeback CuddePower battery pack or cables. Maximum input voltage is 9 volts DC. DO NOT ATTACH CAMERA TO A 12 VOLT BATTERY! Cuddeback C & E models are very similar, but with these notable differences. ✓ C models feature exchangeable flash modules. By removing the flash bezel the user can replace the flash module as desired. This allows the user to convert the camera to strobe (white flash), IR, Black Flash®, or white LEDs (for night color videos) by changing modules. ✓ The C model flash modules are also more powerful than the built-in illuminators in the E models. Therefore, the C models will have slightly longer flash illumination range. 6 7 Install batteries We recommend Rayovac, Duracell, or Energizer Install batteries by removing the 2 battery door brand batteries only. The motion sensor can be set to detect animals in a wide angle or a narrow view. Wide view will capture more animals but is more susceptible to triggering by non-target animals (such as birds) which can lead to blank images. Narrow view is very accurate and generates images with the animals centered in the image. • Reclaiming the Streets: Black Urban Insurgency and Antisocial Security
Reclaiming the streets Black urban insurgency and antisocial security in twenty-fi rst-century Philadelphia Jeff Maskovsky Abstract: Th is article focuses on the emergence of a new pattern of black urban insurgency emerging in major US metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia. I lo- cate this pattern in the context of a new securitization regime that I call “antiso- cial security.” Th is regime works by establishing a decentered system of high-tech forms of surveillance and monitory techniques. I highlight the dialectic between the extension of antisocial security apparatuses and techniques into new political and social domains on the one hand and the adoption of these same techniques by those contesting racialized exclusions from urban public space on the other. I end the article with a discussion of how we might adapt the commons concept to consider the centrality of race and racism to this new securitization regime. • The Cost of Living: Stories
The Cost of Living: Stories A dissertation submitted to the Graduate School of the University of Cincinnati in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of English & Comparative Literature of the College of Arts and Sciences by David James Poissant M.F.A. University of Arizona June 2011 Committee Chair: Michael Griffith, M.F.A. i Abstract The Cost of Living: Stories is a collection of thematically linked short fiction that explores the drama of the everyday in the lives of children, women, and men. In fifteen stories, The Cost of Living illuminates life in and beyond the contemporary urban and suburban southeastern United States. Characters, plagued by hardships of their own making, struggle with relationships and the demands of family. Animals, too, find their way into the fiction, as characters intrude on the natural world. By turns comic, dramatic, and frightening, and written in modes both realist and experimental, this collection gives voice to the heroes of the conflicts that often go unnoticed in our own backyards. ii iii Acknowledgements “The Heaven of Animals” was published by The Atlantic. “Lizard Man” (Winner: Playboy College Fiction Contest) appeared in Playboy, New Stories from the South 2008, Best New American Voices 2010, and was named a Distinguished Mystery Story of 2007 in Best American Mystery Stories. “Refund” (Third Prize: Atlantic Monthly Student Writing Contest) will appear in One Story. “What the Wolf Wants” appeared in West Branch. “The Caterer” (Winner: Matt Clark Prize) appeared in the New Delta Review. “Lake in Winter” appeared in Iron Horse.
