The club was established in 2001 and has been gaining steam and popularity ever since. ANO holds regular bake sales, biannual holidays screenings for Halloween & Valentine’s Day & is in charge of Animara- thon. Di jepang komik dikenal dengan sebutan manga, yang mena telah tersebar di seluruh dunia, baik di televisi (anime) maupun pada surat kabar, baik terjemahan yang legal maupun yang bajakan. Industri manga di Negara jepang merupakan indusri yang bersekala besar yang membayang-bayangi dua Negara pemroduksi komik besar lain yaitu U.S. dan Prancis. 1 Terdapat banyak sekali majalah di jepang yang dikhususkan secara eksklusif untuk manga, sepanjang tahun 90-an, penjualan manga setiap tahunnya kurang lebih 600 milyar yen, mencakup 350 milyar dalam penjualan majalah dan 250 milyar dalam paperbacks (buku bersampul tipis). Total ini belum termasuk penjualan manga yang muncul pada kolom-kolom surat kabar rnaupun rnajalan umurn. Keseluruhan penerbitan media publikasi di jepang termasuk majalah, buku dan surat kabar adalah 2,5 triliyun yen, dimana 1,5 nya adalah penjualan manga. Tiga penerbit terbesar yang memproduksi manga adalah +- -+ Kodansha, Shogakkan, dan Shueisha.
