L Surrounded by the greenery and the blue of the lake, you can enjoy a quiet day by the sun beside our pool with its comfortable sunbeds and suns heads. The pool is for hotel guests only, it is located by the O lake and can be reached from the main building through the underground passage.
O We offer complimentary pool towels and we kindly recommend you not to bring by the pool the towels of the bathroom. For security reason the use of the pool is allowed only during the P opening hours when the lifeguard is on duty. The pool is open during the summer season.

Moltrasio. R It is the municipality where the Grand Hotel Imperiale is located. This is one of the little villages that follow one another all along the perimeter of the lake. Thanks to its famous Villas, residence of many E celebrities, its mild and sunny climate and the panorama, it is defined as one of the pearls of the lake. Moltrasio consists of many I hamlets that from the lake side develop up to the mountain: Borgo, the administrative, religious and economic heart; San Rocco on the lake side and Tosnacco on the upper part. A copper axe and two C Gallo-roman graves prove the human presence since 2000 A.C.. The most ancient monuments are from the year 1000.
N The Churches San Martino church is the main one, located in the Borgo hamlet. The inside is rich in paintings and stuccoes dating back to different periods. The date of its construction is not sure, but a notarial act O proves its existence already in 1207. The side chapel dedicated to the relic of the Sacra Spina and the main altar are enriched with paintings by Giovan Mauro della Rovere, called the ‘Fiamminghino’. C The most precious artwork is the altarpiece by the painter Alvise Donati dated 1507. Sant ’Agata church is the oldest evidence of Lombardic Romanesque architecture in the area. It is located in the hamlet Vignola, along the walk of the ancient Via Regia, built in 1050; you can reach it from the lake side walking up the spectacular Scala Santa (main stairway). Inside you can admire frescoes dating back to 1500. Famous are also the old caves of Moltrasio stones, still visible following along the path ‘Sentee di Sort’; the Moltrasio stone, pride of ➤ Reception the Magistri Cumacini, has been used in Moltrasio to build churches, Tel. 9 Villas and Crottoes. N evocative glimpses of the center. In less than 20 minutes you arrive in Porta Torre, a medieval tower built to protect the main access of Como city.
O Bellagio e Varenna. Bellagio is considered the pearl of Lake Como. Located in an
C enchanting position right in the center of the cape that divides the two branches of the lake, it offers ancient Villas and wide, panoramic views. The center of Bellagio and its characteristic stairways perfectly match with blooming gardens and tree-lined avenues. Punta Spartivento is a panoramic terrace not far from the center offering a breathtaking view on both branches of Lake Como. Varenna is a picturesque and typical village facing the lake, where you can visit Villa Cipressi, Villa Monastero and Castello di Vezio. ➤ Reception

Leaving from the main square and walking for thirty minutes more or less, you reach the Tel. 135 Faro Voltiano, a lighthouse built for the centenary of Alessandro ➤ Bar della Regina Volta’s death. The easiest and most suggestive way to get to Tel. 641 Brunate is by funicular, always operating between 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 ➤ Room Service p.m., leaving every 15 minutes.

In Moltrasio, just beside the Grand Hotel Imperiale, you will find a public boat dock form where you can catch boats to tour Lake Como, visit Villas, R gardens and glimpses that you could never see from the road. With a daily pass of Navigazione Laghi (https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/) it is possible to catch different boats and get on and off with a flat affordable rate. E

Villa Balbianello. On a small peninsula from where you can enjoy enchanting glimpses of N Lario, this elegant and romantic manor of the XVIII century and its astonishing garden hosted scholars and travelers up to its last owner, Guido Monzino. He bequeathed it to FAI (Italian Fund for theEnvironment) O in 1988. From the top of the small wooded cape of Lavedo, stretched overlooking the waters of the central part of the lake, the Villa looks gracefully out on a wide panorama that makes it one of the most scenic C manors of the Lario. Cardinal Durini, scholar and patron, initiated the wonders of Balbianello when at the end of the XVIII century he chose this lake corner to turn it into a delightful literary leisure retreat. A vocation recovered by Guido Monzino in modern times: businessman, collector and passionate traveler, who in 1974 made the Villa a refuge where he could neatly and stylishly store and preserve the memories of an adventurous life that brought him, first Italian one, on the top of Everest. His everyday life and the fortunate deeds arise from maps, travel equipment, books, ➤ Reception furniture and precious as funny collections of ancient and primitive art Tel. 9 objects: everything is still set up following his will, just like the heirlooms of his well-known alpine enterprises which are guarded in the fascinating ➤ Imperialino Restaurant Museo delle Spedizioni. Villa Carlotta
G It is a Villa located in the municipality of Tremezzina on the shores of Lake Como, renown either for the art collections preserved in its rooms and for the wide botanic garden that surrounds it, part of the R circuit Grandi Giardini Italiani. The Villa, initially called Villa Clerici, was built in 1690 by the Marquis Giorgio II Clerici to celebrate the origins and the success of the family from Como. In 1801 Gian E Battista Sommariva bought it – at that time he was the president of
I the Board of Governors of the Cisalpina Republic - ; a prominent figure in Milan, and an art collector in touch with the most famous artists of his age, Sommarovina modified the interior of the Villa in
C order to enrich it with masterpieces coming from its collection, which made the Villa known all over Europe and place of interest for famous people like Stendhal, Lady Morgan and Flaubert. In 1843
N Princess Marianna from Nassau – wife of the Prince Albert from Prussia – bought the Villa and 4 years after she gave it as a present to her daughter Carlotta – reason of the current name – when she got
O married to Giorgio II, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach – Meiningen. Later on, when the first world war burst, being a good belonging to citizens from enemy countries, the Villa was subjected
C to scrutiny and went through ten years of travail which ended on 12th May 1927 when the Ente Morale Villa Carlotta was established, and it is the same that rules the Villa and its gardens nowadays. The building is a compound of great majesty, but compared to the spirit of the time, it is very sober, too. Articulated on three floors (two can be visited), most of the exhibited works are on lower level, while the upper one, with its stylish gallery, shows the Villa mainly from the residential point of view. The terraced garden hosts more than 500 ➤ Reception species of plants favored in their blooming by the mildness of the Tel. 9 climate. During the good season between Easter and the 15th of September the Refuge and restaurant are always open all day long, while for the rest of the year O they open just on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The spaces are comfortable and cozy: on the ground floor you find the bar, the
C kitchen and a tiny dining room that can be used as a private room; on the upper floor the rooms, with 20 beds and the classic alpine Winterraum, the big room more used in wintertime with its typical fireplace and wooden beams, ideal for groups, friends and companies. The table seats are 70, but the big room can be prepared for meetings up to 50 people.
