OFFENSE: QB TONY ROMO, DALLAS COWBOYS • Taking center stage on Thanksgiving, Romo completed 22 of 29 passes (75.9 percent) for 306 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions for a 148.9 passer rating in the Cowboys’ 38-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Romo’s five touchdown passes tied the franchise single-game record and he became the sixth Dallas quarterback to accomplish the feat. The last Cowboy to throw five touchdowns in a game was Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback TROY AIKMAN in 1999. The former Eastern Illinois star connected with wide receiver TERRY GLENN in the first quarter on a 30-yard scoring strike. The Cowboys scored twice in the second quarter on a two-yard TD pass from Romo to Glenn and a one-yard touchdown pass from Romo to running back MARION BARBER. Romo and Barber teamed up again in the third quarter with a two-yard score and Romo’s final TD was a seven-yard toss to wide receiver TERRELL OWENS.

  • Training Camp Tracker by Katie Carrera
C M Y K E10 DAILY 08-01-07 MD SU E10 CMYK E10 Wednesday, August 1, 2007 S The Washington Post Professional Football MIKE WISE Making Pieces Fit For Peace of Mind here aren’t many more top priorities this preseason for the Washington T Redskins’ offensive line than keeping Jason Campbell upright. One job. That’s it. So whatever cutting-and-pasting Joe Bugel has to do in the wake of Chris Samuels’s injured right knee should be done with the utmost concern for the health and well-being of the 25-year-old starting quarterback. Buges knows this, of course. The man who fed and watered the original Hogs — who was in charge of a line last season that represented a sliver of light amid a nasty storm — now has to find a way to achieve that goal. Samuels going down is the first sign of real adversity of training camp, and while it shouldn’t send the congregation into a panic, it’s enough to create a serious domino effect at the position. Bugel and his boss, Joe Gibbs, have a real dilemma now that Samuels most likely will miss anywhere between three and six weeks (for now, the projected return is a month). Do they gamble at left tackle on a young buck like undrafted Maryland rookie Stephon Heyer, an affable, strapping lad who goes 6 feet 6, 325 pounds — and who, by the way, at 1:30 p.m. yesterday went from Pluto on the depth chart to getting most of the repetitions with the first-team offense? Heyer was so pumped afterward, he actually referred to Jon Jansen and Casey Rabach as “legends.” His promotion, which may not last until tomorrow but also might hold up until Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens in a scrimmage — in which hitting the quarterback is not allowed — is also a sign that neither Jason Fabini, who has started 114 games in his NFL career, nor Taylor Whitley has the complete confidence of the staff at this minute.

  • S Landon Collins
August 3, 2019 S Landon Collins On fan appreciation day during training camp: "It’s awesome man. It shows that the guys and the fans out there, they cherish what we do, they love what we do, they acknowledge what we do. They’re standing out there in the heat just like we are playing in it. They want us to win and they want us to win as bad as they do. It’s a dream come true to have those fans out there cheering us on." On how his familiarity with the defense: "We breaking it down part by part, piece by piece. We're taking our time with it. We are not trying to rush through it. We are breaking down each individual person that we have to have. We have the seam, we have the flats, we have the man-to-man. How we are playing it game plan wise, how we are playing it camp wise. It's just breaking down the components just to make sure we all on the same page. We talk more than anything. Communication is the biggest key within the defense. On that part we just stay on the same page, making sure what we got to do, and how we got to play it." On his impression of QB Dwayne Haskins: "He's doing a great job out there – making his plays, making his drills, reading his reads. He's being a rookie. Honestly, all rookies are going to make them mistakes. I am glad he is making them now in camp, so he can know what he can and cannot do; what he cannot throw, and what he can throw, just how to read the defense.

  • 2017 Pro Bowl Players Announced
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 12/20/16 2017 PRO BOWL PLAYERS ANNOUNCED RE-IMAGINED PRO BOWL WEEK CULMINATES WITH TRADITIONAL AFC-NFC MATCHUP AT CAMPING WORLD STADIUM IN ORLANDO ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 29 The NFL announced the AFC and NFC All-Stars for the 2017 Pro Bowl, which will be played on Sunday, January 29, 2017 and simulcast live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes at 8:00 PM ET from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The 2017 Pro Bowl will feature a return to the traditional AFC vs. NFC format following three years using a revised, “unconferenced” structure. The Pro Bowl players were determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counted one-third toward determining the 86 Pro Bowl selections announced today. Two additional “need” players will be chosen by each head coach and must be long snappers. The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. In 1995, the NFL became the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting. Pro Football Hall of Fame running back JEROME BETTIS, All-Pro tight end TONY GONZALEZ, two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl XXXV MVP RAY LEWIS, and former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and All-Pro defensive back CHARLES WOODSON will serve as 2017 Pro Bowl Legends Captains. Bettis (offense) and Lewis (defense) will lead the AFC, while Gonzalez (offense) and Woodson (defense) will lead the NFC. During Pro Bowl Week, the four Legends Captains will serve as mentors for the Pro Bowl players, coach practices, and be present on the sidelines on gameday.
