    Episteme: an online interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary & multi-cultural journal Bharat College of Arts and Commerce, Badlapur, MMR, India Volume 6, Issue 4 March 2018 PHOTO FEATURES OF TEMPLES OF KHAJURAHO By Dr. Krishna Chandra Jha The UNESCO World Heritage Site, Khajuraho is a group of Hindu and Jain temples in Madhya Pradesh (India, about 175 kilometers southeast of Jhansi. The temples are famous for their “NAGAR” style (North Indian Temple‟s Architectural Style) and their erotic carvings. Most of the Khajuraho temples were built between 950 and 1050 by the Chandela dynasty. The first recorded mention of Khajuraho temples in accounts of Foreign Albiruni in AD 1022. Local traditions list 85 temples in Khajuraho, out of which 25 temples are surviving & scattered in 20 sq. kilometers area. The temples were built together but were dedicated to two Hinduism & Jainism, suggesting a tradition of acceptance and respect for diverse religious views in the region. 4 Purushartha is an ideal concept of Indian social thinkers since millennium. These are known as Dharma (ethics, duty), Artha (wealth, prosperity), Kama (pleasure, sensual gratification) and Moksha (liberation, spiritual values). These are the blueprint for human fulfillment, signposts and those points us to a successful, satisfying, balanced existence in the world. Working with them can help you to make a balanced life at the deepest and most holistic level. In Indian literature and philosophy, Kama denotes longing and desire, often with a sexual connotation. But the broader concept refers to any wish, passion, and pleasure of the senses, affection, love or enjoyment of life. Baba: Yes. Student: When does she become Vishnu’s paadodbhavi? I mean to say, Ganga is shown in the hairlocks of Shankar as well as she is shown originating from the feet of Vishnu. Baba: What is first? (Student: First, Shankar’s [hairlocks].) Is she in the hairlocks of Shankar first? First she has emerged from the feet of Vishnu. Paad means feet. For example, you reach some place by walking with these feet. Similarly, this is feet-like intellect. We walk long, we climb high to God, the Father’s abode by thinking and churning through these feet- like intellect. So, these hands and feet represent the intellect. It isn’t about the physical hands and feet. Just as something is caught through the hands, similarly a topic is caught (grasped) through the intellect. You reach [a place] through the feet. People also say: you can’t reach the point where our guru has reached. So, is it about reaching through the feet or is it about the intellect? It is about the intellect. Well, Ganga emerged from the feet of Vishnu means that did Brahma and Saraswati used to work together or was the face of one of them on one side and the face of the other on the other side? (Student: they worked together.) I am speaking about the practical Brahma and Saraswati through whom Brahmakumar-kumaris have emerged.

    www.TLHjournal.com Literary Herald ISSN: 2454-3365 UGC-Approved Journal An International Refereed English e-Journal Impact Factor: 2.24 (IIJIF) Processional theatre of Nanda Devi: A comparative study of Regional, fictional and Pan Indian Narratives Pushpa Research Scholar Department of English H.N.B Garhwal University Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand India Abstract Nanda Devi known and venerated by different names as Gaura, Sati, Bhagwati, Chandika, Durga, Uma, Parvati, Shakti. In the Uttarakhand state she is venerated as a beloved daughter as well as a loving sister. Her propitiation is done through different festivals i.e., annual, six yearly and twelve yearly. The twelve yearly festival i.e., Nanda Raj Jat is recognized and prominent on world level. As in a Processional theatre the artists move from one location to other location, in the same way the procession of Nanda Devi in different festivals moves from one location to other location. The palanquin of Nanda Devi moves along with the pilgrims and accomplish a long distance of hundreds mile. The present paper is an attempt to explore the fictional, regional and pan Indian narratives of Nanda Devi along with a comparative study of different narratives. The narratives vary from one place to other. Key words: Bhagwati Nanda: A goddess worshipped and revered in the holy land of uttarakhand Jagar :Songs Procession- A group of pilgrims Anand: Blissfulness Ressasau: A village in Uttarakhand state. Nanda Devi: a short Introduction Nanda Devi is the most reverend and venerated deity in Uttarakhand. Her propitiation is done in so many forms.She is the consort of Lord Shiva.

If you remember we already had started Kishkindha Kand in the March yagna. Let us see what is next. More we get tuned to that darshan (philosophy) or the point, more our life will change after every satsang. So Sugreev being banished by Bali or rather threatened by Bali was living at Rishyamukha parvat. And Bhagavan Ram after meeting Shabari, started searching for Sugreev because Shabari told Bhagavan Ram to go to Sugreev. And then you heard (in the last yagna) that first Sugreev spotted these two quiet robust kind of people (Bhagavan Ram and Lakshman) coming towards him and he entertained a doubt in his mind that ‘I think they have been sent by Bali to kill me’. The important point is that he didn’t trust his mind. This is where Sugreev excels. He could have said, ‘let’s run away’ but he did not trust his mind and he said ‘Hanuman you go and find out’. And then Hanumanji went and what happened I will come to it. This nirabhimanta (egolessness) of Sugreev is what attracts me to his nature. Tulsidasji’s Vinay Patrika opens this episode more clearly. What he says is – Sugreev is ‘Jeeva’ and Bali is ‘Karma’. And karma is chasing the jeeva and beating him.
