Executive Officers Report
As I start writing this report I am sitting at the CSSA Primary State Tennis GD watching the Yr 5/6 Boys finals. It is so encouraging to see the boys play with not only the determination to win but with a spirit of good sportsmanship, congratulating each other after a winning shot. The day began in prayer acknowledging God for all that He has done and thanking Him for the gifts and talents He has given us. It is such a privilege to be part of a school system where we can be open about our faith in God and speak to our students about their relationship with Jesus.
I would like to share the following story from Lisa Mallard at Northern Beaches CS which shows how blessed we are to be part of the Christian Schools Sports Association:
The day before we played our 1st game in the Primary State Cricket KO Competition one of our Yr 5 boys passed away from a brain tumour. He was part of our team and was amazingly passionate about his cricket.
The boys in the team only found out the night before the game and had to leave early the next day before they could meet with school counselors & the rest of their class mates. There were lots of tears and the boys wore arm bands for their friend. Their coach & the boys prayed together before the game and there was a real sense of looking after each other - our opponents Pacific Hills CS were so supportive. I feel super blessed to be a part of this Association and to work at a school where we can pray with our kids and remind them of the important things in life.
I also had the privilege to attend the National CS Games on the Gold Coast in May with the NSW Team which consisted of 208 secondary students and 24 staff. Our team Chaplain Jim Dayhew: Nowra AC lead 3 devotions on:
1. Good Sport: It can’t get better than this 2. Bad Sport: It can’t get worse than this, and 3. Beyond Sport: It can and will get better than this
After each of Jim’s devotions the students spent time with their coach in small groups discussing: What it meant to be made in God's image In what specific ways should the idea of being God's image bearers and representatives affect the way we compete throughout the week Temptations we experience in sport and There is more to life than sport - keep sport in its rightful place and not as an idol.
The feedback from students, coaches & team managers was so positive that I encourage you to take the time to speak to someone who attended.
Parent comment: Thank you most sincerely for the wonderful experience Liam had at the National Christian Schools Games. He spoke very highly of his experiences. The Games is such a powerful one in terms of their faith development and connection with God and each other.

In 2015 Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) has 76 member primary schools with nearly 10,000 primary aged students. In order to serve our member schools and students, in accordance with our Statement of Aims;
In 2015 CSSA organised and ran
5 State Championships (Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics, Cross Country, Biathlon)
11 Gala Days (AFL – Paul Kelly Cup Qualifier, Cricket, Basketball (2), Netball, Football, Golf, Oztag, Small Schools Netball/Football, Softball, Tennis)
2 NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Trials (Boys Football, Girls Netball) and
2 Cricket Fun Days, for Primary aged students in our schools.
451 of our Primary students competed at NSW CIS Gala Days / Championships OR were nominated to try out for a NSW CIS team. 85 of these students were selected to represent NSW CIS at NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) events. 19 of these students were selected to represent NSW PSSA at School Sports Australia (SSA) events. One student – Cassandra Fayers of Maitland Christian School won the SSA Cross Country event for the third year in a row and also represented NSWPSSA in Athletics. Others performed extremely well at these high levels and their achievements are listed on the relevant sport page.

Cricket Fun Days
In 2015, CSSA in cooperation with NSW Cricket ran 2 Cricket Fun Days. These days are designed to introduce children to the game of cricket by participating in a series of skills sessions and then using the skills in a game situation. The aim of the day is FUN. Fun in learning skills, fun in competition, fun in playing games and fun in participating in community with peers from other schools.

In 2015 Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) has 63 member secondary schools with almost 16,000 secondary aged students. In order to serve our member schools and students, in accordance with our Statement of Aims;
In 2015 CSSA organised and ran
5 State Championships (Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics, Cross Country, Triathlon)
5 Gala Days/Championships (Basketball, Cricket, Football, Golf, Oztag)
2 Trials for NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS) teams (Football, Netball)
6 Gala Days incorporating trials for CIS teams (Hockey, Volleyball, Touch Football, Rugby Union (2), Softball, Tennis, Netball).
842 of our Secondary students competed at NSW CIS Gala Days / Championships OR were nominated to try out for a NSW CIS team. 116 of these students were selected to represent NSW CIS at NSW All Schools events. 20 of these students were selected to represent NSW All Schools at School Sports Australia (SSA) events. Many of these students performed extremely well at these high levels and their achievements are listed on the relevant sport page.

National Christian Schools Games
Since 2001 National Christian Schools Sport has been providing students with the opportunity to compete against students from Christian Schools in other states in a number of sporting Championships. In 2015 the National Christian Schools Games were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland over a 1 week period.
Purpose The vision of the National Christian Schools Sports Committee is to hold a high quality sporting championship that honours God and recognises excellence in student sporting endeavours. The focus was also, to talk to the students about their relationship with Jesus and to challenge their priorities in life so that they bring glory and honour to God in whatever they do!
The National Christian Schools Games will be held every 2 years with multiple sports played over 4-5 days. The sports in 2015 were:
Athletics Basketball Football (soccer) Swimming Tennis
Students from NSW CSSA Schools had the opportunity to trial for these teams leading up to the Games, with the possibility of representing NSW in multiple sports. 208 NSW CSSA students travelled to Queensland to compete at the Games, they were accompanied by 24 staff. An Opening Celebration night was held at the beginning of the Games, a combined Closing Ceremony at Sea World to close the Games and NSW CSSA students spent their last day at Movie World before flying home.
Georgia Bowden of Inaburra School was awarded the Rising Stars “Outstanding Performance Award”. This award was based on Christian character, maturity and service to the NSW team.
