For those few who channel that inheritance of sound today, none have wielded its command and authority like Neurosis. Showing their discontent with convention from the very beginning, Neurosis revealed what would become an instinct for transformation in sound and scope. With each release, the sound became interchangeable with vision. A vision of the conscious and unconscious coexisting in an audial spectrum that challenged not only the constraints of what listeners expected but of the listeners themselves as beings. Over the collective’s past ten albums, Neurosis have invited listeners to join them on the path their music carved. Going beyond the remarkable, Neurosis became unforgettable. Throughout the last 30 years, the journey of their music has found the band relishing the unpredictable and embracing the unknown possibility of where the music was capable of taking them. This year finds Neurosis taking their most dominant step yet with their eleventh full-length, Fires Within Fires. Three decades in the making, Fires Within Fires is a testament both to the history and future of Neurosis. Striking the band's signature balance between light and dark, beauty and repulsion, Fires Within Fires gives due to its predecessors while progressing forward into the unfamiliar and formidable. Featuring exquisite album artwork from the renowned Thomas Hooper and the stellar recording work of the group's longstanding engineer Steve Albini, Fires Within Fires is at once a beautiful and forbidding work of mastery.

  • NEUROSIS 30.07.2011 Stuttgart-Wangen Longhorn/LKA NEUROSIS Needs No Introduction. the Bay Area's Legendary Masters of Behemoth
NEUROSIS 30.07.2011 Stuttgart-Wangen Longhorn/LKA NEUROSIS needs no introduction. The Bay Area's legendary masters of behemoth, psychedelic operatic guitar girth has influenced a wide array of artists and nearly singlehandedly defined vast extremes of heavy music popular today. However, now in its third decade, NEUROSIS' latest album finds the group's sound transforming yet again so dramatically that even to diehard fans, Given To The Rising might seem starkly different, a stunning reintroduction. Given To The Rising is like being submerged in an isolation tank -- it's enveloping, subverting the senses with surreal visions we'd swear were our own, cleverly jarring and disorienting consciousness beyond any footing in reality. As any diehard NEUROSIS fan will tell you, there's a moment with every new record and live show at which the band will stop as if the world has frozen in position, then suddenly kick into the primordial wail that we've all come to recognize as the "NEUROSIS note" that forces the listener's head and shoulders to lurch and sway almost uncontrollably. “Given To The Rising” is NEUROSIS at its most captivating and hypnotic. Put simply, the album is some of the band's most raw and immediate material to date, but it is also more complexly orchestrated and richly thickened with psych- damaged overtones. “Given To The Rising” is more than a just a powerful collection of songs -- it's more like a religious experience. While personal epiphanies are repeatedly told by those who've been converted by NEUROSIS' sensory overloading live show as well as its recordings, there's a hypnotic quality to this album that takes hold from the opening guitar squall of the title track.

  • Mægtige Sleep Til Pumpehuset 23. Maj
Bandet har ialt udgivet fem albums: 1991 Volume One / Tupelo Records 1992 Volume Two / Off the Disk Records 1993 Holy Mountain / Earache Records 1999 Jerusalem / The Music Cartel / Rise Above Records 2003 Dopesmoker /Tee Pee Records / Southern Lord Billetsalget starter i dag (28.02) kl. 16 via livenation.dk Live Nation er verdens førende producent og formidler af live entertainment oplevelser.

Unsure. And screaming. —Neurosis, "Prayer" For the last 26 years, NEUROSIS have tapped into the elusive wellspring where resonance and dissonance collude, circling emotional poles where nothing is withheld, where the psyche screams for answers to Earth's ancient mysteries. Originally unveiled in 2000, the four-song, 32-minute Sovereign EP was the first NEUROSIS release issued through the band's own Neurot Recordings, with the vinyl appearing via Hydra Head. In chronological terms, Sovereign served as a millennial segue between two of the band's most revered full- lengths, 1999's Times Of Grace and 2001's A Sun That Never Sets. Opener "Prayer" sets the omnipotent tone for all that follows. A master-class in deep dynamics, the song ascends from its quiet beginnings into a rolling, hypnotic power-dirge couched in a bone-rattling rhythm. The potential mental imagery is vast and varied: A parade of dervishes and charlatans slither across the firelight in Plato's Cave. Mankind's sentence is pronounced. The light swallows everything. Everything becomes nothing. "An Offering" brings arsenic visions of Eden—or at least of the ruinous snake and the tree of knowledge around which it infamously coiled. The book of Genesis and the Iron Age collide in a forgotten corner beyond time. A litany of primordial premonitions torment the psyche, unhinged finally in the song's crushing, apocalyptic ending, which easily ranks amongst the band's heaviest, most effective outpourings.

  • Neurosis Pain of Mind
NEUROT RECORDINGS 2900 North Government Way PMB 271 Coeur d'Alene, ID, 83815 United States Neurosis tel/fax: 208.623.6402 email: Pain of Mind [email protected] NR107 CD/LP www.neurotrecordings.com Pain of mind, sickness of heart Pain of Mind marks the inception of one of the weirdest and most powerful bands there ever was as they begin their odyssey through the sonic landscape: 33 years, 13 albums and counting. These gritty punk songs bear little resemblance to what Neurosis would become, but the future was written here, and if you listen closely to these kids—barely out of high school at the time, you can hear their early influences: The guitars and existential anguish of Amebix and Rudimentary Peni, the passionate politics of Crass, the heaviness of Sabbath—and here, too, they lay the foundation for some of their enduring concerns: the pursuit of transcendence, and contemplation on the downward suck of despair. As Ian MacKaye coyly suggests in the East Bay Punk doc Turn It Around, there are “a lot of holes to fall into” growing up in the Bay Area. In 1987 Dave Edwardson was 18, Scott Kelly was 19, Jason Roeder was 16, Chad Salter, the band elder, was 21, and they had already fallen into many of them, including, of course, the great abyss of depression. Only a teenager could write the punk anthems “Black,” “Grey” “Life on Your Knees,” and of course the title track, “Pain of Mind”. They are songs of survival. With Pain of Mind, Neurosis sunk their claws into the hearts and minds of the East Bay scene like no one else.

  • Rarelyunable Press Release
RARELYUNABLE PRESS RELEASE PRESENTS.... ARTIST – NEUROSIS TITLE – HONOR FOUND IN DECAY FORMAT – CD (NEUROT)/LP (RELAPSE) LABEL – NEUROT RELEASE DATE: 29/10/2012 It is said that great art has the power to take us outside of ourselves and bring us closer to ourselves simultaneously. Few bands have accomplished this rare feat on a more profound and consistent basis than NEUROSIS. For nearly three decades, their music has touched the hearts and minds of men and women seeking contact with something beyond the physical world, something intangible, something that expresses the inner tumult of the human condition in a way that transcends time and space. Something that not only provokes questions but maybe even hints at answers. Since 1985 this matchless force has surpassed the boundaries of any genre, never ceasing to mutate and progress their songwriting and sonic delivery, and never failing to mesmerise audiences both in the studio and onstage. And as the anticipation from their diehard fan-base reaches a boiling point, NEUROSIS unveil details of their tenth full-length studio creation, Honor Found In Decay. The follow-up to their acclaimed 2007-released Given To The Rising album, the music on Honor Found In Decay is both torturous and transcendent. It is the ongoing exposition of a vast internal dialogue that seems to carry the weight of eons. With the right kind of ears and eyes, it can seem like the trials and tribulations of mankind are being channeled through five individuals: Steve Von Till, Scott Kelly, Noah Landis, Jason Roeder and Dave Edwardson. And yet? They will be the first ones to tell you that they are just regular people trying to make sense of the world around them.

  • Neurosis It Started with a Pact
IT STARTED WITH A PACT. Three young punk rockers named Scott Kelly, Dave Edwardson, and Jason Roeder were talking in the ramshackle Bay Area warehouse where they lived. They wrote the names of the bands they emulated on a wall, and pledged to keep their band together until a death in their make- shift family. While this might sound like the antics of any teenage musician, the trio kept their promise and went much further. The pledge marked the beginning of the band Neurosis. Neurosis started with the rudimentary Pain of Mind and quickly outgrew the hardcore scene. By the mid-’90s, they incorporated samples, keyboards, and stunning visuals with mammoth riffs. They only play special shows now but still record, most recently releasing Given to the Rising (2007). It’s been a sometimes-tough two-plus decade ride marked by enormous creativity and musical growth, as well as poverty, addiction, and touring that pushed the band to the breaking point. Throughout it all, the pact and a spirit of brotherhood kept the band going. Guitarist/vocalists Scott Kelly and Steve Von Till tell us the winding road of one of the most influential metal bands of the past two decades. 2 NEUROSIS2011 MARYLAND DEATH FEST 2011 MARYLAND DEATH FEST 3 passed through, like Fang and Crucifix, before we were there. We shared a room with Christ on Parade, Noah’s [Landis, keyboardist] first band. There were labels there, members of Short Dogs Grow… all of these mid-’80s punk bands who have gone on to do all kinds of things.

  • Neurosis Through Silver in Blood Full Album Download Through Silver in Blood
neurosis through silver in blood full album download Through Silver in Blood. Neurosis built their reputation on -- to put it one way -- long-winded compositions, making their albums a challenging listening experience for even the most dedicated fans. And their fifth album, Through Silver in Blood, doesn't buck the trend, diving headlong into the group's entirely unique experiments in ambient, progressive death metal with the mesmerizing 12-minute title track. With the exception of two minute-long interludes, much of the remaining material follows this blueprint, with abnormally long tracks like "Aeon" and "Purify" gradually building from simple melodies into trance-inducing epics. Conversely, other songs take an unbearably long time to develop, crawling toward their climaxes so slowly (see "Strength of Fates") -- or toward no climax at all (see the tortured screaming of "Enclosure in Flame") -- that one's attention span is severely tested. It is therefore of little wonder that Neurosis' appeal remains so selective. Approach with caution. Neurosis – ‘Through Silver in Blood’ Turns 20. We’ve been covering Oakland’s seminal progressive sludge outfit Neurosis heavily as of late, in conjunction with the band’s 30th anniversary. Through Silver in Blood , their most popular and historic album, turns 20 tomorrow. It’s the most iconic album Neurosis has made. The twin serpents of its cover grace the band’s collaboration t-shirt with Converge. Its lead single is their most-performed song (much more on that later). Putting Through Silver in Blood in context presents a challenge. It doesn't sound like much else on the market when it was released.
