External Scholarships A Place for Mom Senior Wisdom Scholarship Five $2,000 scholarships available to students enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s, certificate or graduate-level program at an accredited school in the fields of gerontology, medicine, nursing, social work, sociology, psychology, physical or occupational therapy, speech pathology, elder law or long-term care administration. Scholarships are awarded in June every year (deadline for each year is May 1st) and applications are accepted year-round. Click here for the full details. Adoptive Families Association of BC Youth Bursary AFABC Youth Bursary was established in 2014, with funding from the Adoptive Families Association of BC, and accepts applications from youth who have joined their family by legal adoption. Foley Memorial Scholarship is available to direct descendants (children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren) of members of The Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada attending ANY year of University or College courses leading to a degree or diploma. ARI has held worldwide essay contests for students on Ayn Rand’s fiction for more than thirty years. This year we will award over 230 prizes, totaling more than $70,000. BC Cowboy Heritage Society This will be for graduating seniors or college students resident in BC, who are enrolled in any post-secondary institution or will be so, within the year of the competition. Our objectives in presenting these scholarships are twofold: To promote awareness of our ranching and cowboy heritage and current contributions, and to provide support in post- secondary education to students who demonstrate that knowledge. BC Housing The Education Awards Program helps residents in a household directly receiving a subsidy from BC Housing, or receiving rental assistance through the Rental Assistance Program (RAP) at the start of courses pursue their educational goals as a way to achieve success and personal growth. Canadian Hard of Hearing Association The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Scholarship Program was established in 2002. This Program is supported by donations of the members of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA), the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association North Shore (CHHA-North Shore), the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Newfoundland and Labrador (CHHA-NL), and Doreen Laszlo (spouse of Dr. Charles Laszlo). CMHA BC Scholarships and Bursaries Since 1982, CMHA BC has been helping people with mental illness further their pursuit of post-secondary education through our scholarship and bursary programs. Credit Union Foundation of BC The Foundation’s primary purpose is to provide education awards to British Columbia resident post-secondary students in need of financial assistance for academic, technological, or vocational training at accredited schools within the province. Diversity Scholarship Up to ten $1,000 scholarships are available and will be awarded to applicants who have promoted diversity awareness and acceptance in their community and have not previously received the Joint Diversity Scholarship. Friends of Canadian Broadcasting The Dalton Camp Award is a $10,000 prize for the best essay on the link between media and democracy, presented annually by FRIENDS of Canadian Broadcasting. Hamilton Community Foundation Hamilton Community Foundation’s scholarships and bursary funds provide assistance and encouragement to promising young students challenged by the costs of education. Holiday Inn & Suites Vancouver Downtown Indigenous Scholarship Program The Holiday Inn Vancouver Downtown is proud to present its Indigenous Scholarship Program in which – each year – one or more qualified and deserving Indigenous students will receive a two thousand dollar ($2,000) scholarship with which to pursue post-secondary education. Innovation in Education Scholarship LA Tutors are passionate about sparking the creative genius in students and would love to commend those outstanding students who have made a difference in the lives of others in some innovative or technological fashion. Edgar Kerstan was a long-time Mensa member, active in the Toronto chapter, and he made a very generous donation to the Mensa Canada Scholarship Programme.
