Film Sui Blues Brothers in Alta Definizione All'ariston Roof Di 1 Film sui Blues Brothers in alta definizione all’Ariston Roof di Sanremo di Ma. Gu. Riviera24 - 3 / 3 - 29.09.2021.

Lisa Maxwell Bio Lisa Maxwell, has composed, arranged, orchestrated, produced, and conducted music for small combos, horn sections, strings, big bands and full orchestra. Her unique voice as an arranger has earned her respect among her peers in the jazz industry. Lisa's music has been described as "high-level, beautiful, smokin', accessible, surprising, harmonically sophisticated, and sick (in a good way!)." Born in Los Angeles, Lisa started playing piano at age 6 and later switched to saxophone. At 16, she was regularly sneaking into jazz clubs. At 17, she took a film scoring class at UCLA and realized she wanted to write music for lots of instruments. Trumpeter Ray Copeland taught her jazz arranging, and Charlie Haden let her sit in on his classes at Cal Arts. Lisa attended Manhattan School of Music to study saxophone with Joe Allard, and spent her nights in clubs, where she met her musical heroes. Lisa returned to L.A. to study composing and arranging with Dick Grove in Studio City; and then won the Quincy Jones Arranging Scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where Herb Pomeroy taught her Duke Ellington's nuanced line-writing techniques. Lisa's original music has been licensed for TV shows including: Sons of Anarchy, Person of Interest, Dexter, Burn Notice, Four Weddings, Gravity. As part of the Emmy Award-winning music team for Warner Bros., Lisa was an orchestrator on all 52 episodes of Histeria! series, and Animaniacs: Wakko's Wish feature. As a sax player, Lisa led the horn sections on the Guns 'n' Roses Use Your Illusion world tour and Spinal Tap tour, and has performed and recorded with numerous other artists, as well as TV, theater, and awards shows.

  • Teaching and Learning Jazz Trombone Dissertation
TEACHING AND LEARNING JAZZ TROMBONE DISSERTATION Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By Julia M. Gendrich, B.S., M.S. * * * * * The Ohio State University 2003 Dissertation Committee: Approved by Dr. William T. McDaniel, Co-Adviser _______________________________ Co-Adviser Dr. Timothy A. Gerber, Co-Adviser School of Music Dr. Jon R. Woods _______________________________ Co-Adviser School of Music ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to identify and assess methods of teaching and learning jazz trombone improvisation that have been implemented by jazz trombone professors. Its intent was to describe learning procedures and areas of trombone study. A survey instrument was designed after interviewing 20 professional jazz trombonists. The survey was pilot-tested (n = 9) and adjustments were made. Jazz trombone professors (n = 377) were sent questionnaires, with a response rate of 28 percent after an additional reminder to all and follow-up phone calls to one-third of the sample. Of the 106 total respondents, 58 were deemed to be eligible participants as both trombonists and as teachers of jazz improvisation. Three areas were explored: 1) early stages of development, 2) teaching, and 3) trombone technique. Data showed that most of the professors (77%) had learned to improvise between 7th-12th grades. They identified the most important method of learning for themselves as listening and playing-along with recordings. Learning occurred on their own for many, though college also had an impact. Schools (K-12) were not strongly rated as being helpful in the trombonists learning to improvise (2.49 on a scale of one to five), though schools did provide many jazz performance experiences.

JAN/FEB 2010 ISSUE MMUSICMAG.COM JAN/FEB 2010 ISSUE MMUSICMAG.COM or more than four decades, we’ve turned on TV late at night to see F talk-show hosts joking about the latest scandal and celebrities hawking their new films. But more discerning listeners know that when they tune in post- primetime, they’re also hearing some of the best musicians in the business—masters of precision who can tackle any genre and pick up the slightest cue. Since the halcyon days of Johnny Carson and Doc Severinsen’s Tonight Show band, house bands have punctuated hosts’ antics, musically introduced guests, played in and out of commercials and composed original scores for sketches—all in a night’s work. It’s time to shine a spotlight on the aces behind the music.
