You Beaut! Bonza New Geordie Shore: Going Down Under Tuesday 9 You Beaut! Bonza New Geordie Shore: Going Down Under Tuesday 9th July at 10pm, only on MTV Fear not! Geordie Shore is back with more bang for your buck to deliver a little bit of much needed sunshine into our lives. The gorgeous gang has escaped the grey skies of Newcastle to fly half way around the world to the glamorous shores of Sydney where they take residence in a lush luxury beach front mansion and show the Aussies how to party Geordie style! How will the hot young local Sheila’s react to the ‘buck squad’ and will they understand a word they are saying or will their bodies do the talking? How will our lasses go down with the local lads and is Australia ready for getting mortal, slut dropping and getting on it like a car bonnet? Only time will tell… As the Geordie’s settle into their amazing new pad in typical fashion by getting mortal, they get the shock of their lives as former Geordie Shore legend and alpha male Jay comes to crash the party for a few days. We last saw Gaz crying like a baby when he left at the end of series 3 causing a sad end to their beautiful bromance. However, his tears of sadness were soon replaced with squeals of joy when hot-blooded Scott joined the cast sharing Gaz’s eagerness for pulling and the “buck squad” was born. For two series the dirty duo have romped their way around Europe so will Jay’s arrival upset the balance as Gaz decides to spend his time getting mortal with his old pal or will the lure of pulling hotties with ‘buck squad’ member Scott be too hard to resist? Last series saw James feeling left out of the family after his worldie girlfriend Kate caused a rift between him and his former bed buddy Holly which impacted on everyone’s relationships in the house. After weeks of bad tension, things between them finally came to a head and ended in a massive barney, so how will they both fair this time when living under the same roof again thousands of miles from home? Things had not improved when the bickering pair had arrived in the land down under. Charlotte arrives late in Oz sporting newly dyed brunette hair in an attempt to ward off overly friendly advances from blond loving Gaz as she is determined that their turbulent relationship is over once and for all. Heard that one before Char! Bestie Sophie has caused tension by revealing some secrets about Charlotte to the house but what are they and are they true? For the first time since Series 2 we see a newly single Vicky who is determined that girls just want to have fun now that her and former cast member and fiancée Ricci are over for good. She said about her time away ‘it was the most amazing time of my life…Australia is incredible, the people, the beaches, the atmosphere and the nightlife is like nowhere else. All this made it the wildest series yet.’ With a country as beautiful and diverse as Australia, our Geordies are determined to enjoy all the amazing experiences this incredible country has to offer. Anyone who’s ever backpacked knows that a trip to Oz wouldn’t be complete without the obligatory comedy trip to the outback, surfing at Bondi beach, and getting friendly with the local wildlife.     From reality television to the hyperreal: How do the pressures of reality shows such as Geordie Shore cause their characters to change their physical appearance? Clemency Newman Abstract Looking into the popular reality show Geordie Shore, I will undertake research to answer why it is that the women who appear on the show change their physical appearance and what connection this has to their celebrity status. I hope to argue that because the women are considered lower class, they have no other power than their perceived attractiveness and are therefore pressured into trying to achieve a hyperreal body, relating to Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation. Introduction Reality television is big business, with over 300 reality format shows on air in the US alone (Washington Post, 2015) from Idol to Big Brother, they rake in millions of viewers every night and have a significant impact on popular culture. These shows present a concentrated, edited and scandalised version of everyday life, wrapped in the guise of being true to the viewer, only more dramatic. Television has the ability to shape our view of the world and now with the ever pervasive aspects of social media, networks such as Bravo can imprint an everlasting impression of what we consider normal. However, even when know what we are watching is completely unreal, we accept it as ‘reality’ and accept the characters into our lives, until they become overthrown by a younger, prettier and more outrageous model. Geordie Shore is one such television show which presents an exaggerated, hyperbolic version of reality, with the cast members performing ridiculous, violent and carnal acts in front of a worldwide audience and being celebrated in the process.

Geordie Shore hade världspremiär våren 2011 och blev genast en enorm succé med miljoner tittare världen över och har sänts i 10 säsonger.     Heritage as a Vehicle for Development: The case of Bigg Market, Newcastle upon Tyne Loes Veldpaus and John Pendlebury School of Architecture Planning and Landscape, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, UK doi:10.1080/02697459.2019.1637168 Abstract: In this paper we examine the way conservation-planning has changed since the global economic crisis in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), where austerity is still an all- consuming issue. Focusing upon a recent project around the Bigg Market, a historic public space, we map the new ‘conservation-planning assemblage’ where ‘other-than- public' forms of management have taken hold. We identify impacts of austerity, deregulation and a smaller state ideology, and show how the agency of heritage assets and narratives in urban context is focussed on economic performance and competitiveness. Within the conservation-planning assemblage, roles and responsibilities have changed, and we reflect on the impact this has on conservation policy and practice. Serien sätter Warszawa på partykartan och följer fyra tjejer och fyra killar som flyttar ifrån sina familjehem för att börja ett helt nytt liv i huvudstaden och bo tillsammans i ett hus fullt av kameror. På dagarna måste de slita ihop sina pengar på ett gym för att på kvällarna kunna släppa ut håret på Warszawas hetaste klubbar. Vredesutbrott, slagsmål, skratt, gråt och sex är vägen till vänskap bland de åtta främlingarna som inte kommer lämna någon oberörd. I ett av avsnitten får de besök av gänget från Geordie Shore vilket leder till drama i världsklass. Vi möter den långa Ania - en oblyg och energisk tjej som inte kan överleva en fest utan cocktails och twerking på dansgolvet. Den kortare Ania drömmer egentligen om att bli polis. Men i nuläget kretsar hennes liv kring alkoholstinna resor till klubbarna och hon undrar kanske lite för ofta “vad som hände igår kväll?". Eliza vill bli världsberömd modell . In Looking North: Northern England and the national imagination , cultural historian Dave Russell discusses the role of culture in shaping the idea of ‘the North’ both for Northerners themselves, and for those beyond the region: ‘[…] most people outside the North and many within it have come to know the region not through personal experience but via versions they encounter in the field of culture. To explore the constructed ‘North’ then, is to engage not with some peripheral academic plaything but with a major factor in the definition of popular mentalities’ (Russell, p.4). Contemporary cultural representations of ‘northern-ness’ are regularly presented and re-presented through screen, stage, literature, music and art, from the critically acclaimed Northumbrian folk music of The Unthanks to the reality TV horror show Geordie Shore . 1 Constructed, culturally mediated versions of the North – whether good or bad, true or false - continue to exert a powerful influence on the perception and understanding of the North of England. In theatre, playwrights such as Andrea Dunbar, Shelagh Delaney, Alan Plater, John Godber, Peter Flannery, Alan Bennett and Alan Ayckborn have offered compelling portraits of northern life and culture on stage, and have often done so ‘from the inside’, presenting the north from an intimately northern, regionalist perspective. The Newcastle-born playwright Lee Hall has likewise dealt with northern themes and settings in a number of works, including his recent revision of Alan Plater’s Close the Coalhouse Door . Perhaps best known for the 2000 screenplay of his original stage play Billy Elliott , which followed the story of an aspiring ballet dancer growing up in a Durham mining community during the 1984-5 Miner’s Strike, Hall returned to the north east of England - and its mining heritage – in his play The Pitmen Painters which premiered in 2007 at the Live Theatre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
