Hussain created the adult spy thriller series Masood Rana, initially modeled after James Bond, but expanded widely. So far, 463 books have been published in this series, which has gained great popularity in Bangladesh. Written from the 1960s and continuing to this day, the books are published almost every three months by Sheba Prokashone, one of Bangladesh's most popular publishers. Although Kazi Anwar Hussain started the series, he doesn't write it anymore. A group of ghostwriters are to produce all of Masood Rana's new novels. The book by Masood Rana describes the adventures of his eponymous hero Masood Rana, an international spy agent of Bangladeshi origin, very reminiscent of James Bond in his experience in the field of weapons and love for women. Although the soulful author of the series is Kazi Anwar Hussain, it is known that Hussain liberally extracts fragments of plots from popular Western spy thrillers of modern times. However, the series has become a boon for young people in postwar Bangladesh who have had several entertainment alternatives in the pre-dating era of cable tv, websites and smartphones. The books have caused concern among some middle- class parents because of their casual racy content, and reading Masood Rana has been an activity often frowned upon. The series eventually ran to well over 400 individual titles. Masood Rana has also been adapted for one Bengali film and one television drama. In July 2018, Bangladesh's largest production house, Jaaz Multimedia, received permission from author Kazi Anwar Hussain to produce three films based on the first three novels in the series. The producer hopes to release films in the next five years. The creation and inspiration of the character was created in 1966 by Bangladeshi writer Kazi Anwar Hussain in an attempt to write a spy thriller for Bangladeshi readers. According to the foreword Dhongsho-Pahar (the first book in the series), Hussain was inspired and inspired by his close friend Mahbub Aamin. Kazi Anwar Hussain took the name of his character on behalf of Hussein's friend, lyricist Masood Karim, and Rana Pratap Singh of the Rajput clan, who ruled Mewar, a state in northwestern India from 1540 to 1597. Hussain admitted in a 1994 interview that he was heavily influenced by Ian Fleming's james Bond character. Kazi Anwar Hussain, creator and author of the Masood Rana Masood Rana series in other media Feature film about Ran was shot in 1974 under the name Masood Rana. Masood Parvez, who is known by his stage name Sohel Rana as a director and starred in it. This is the 11th story in the series and was first published in 1967. Three films based on the first three novels in the series are on the cards. In July 2018, the production house Jaaz Multimedia announced that they were going to make films based on Dhwansha Pahar, Bharatnathyam and Swarna Mrigya. Recently we received permission to film on the widely read masood Rana series from Kazi Anwar Hussain. They said. These three films will be shot and released over the next five years. The first film, which will be shot at the base of Dhongsho Pahar, will be released on set in January 2019. The first package drama in the history of Bangladesh, Prachir Perie (Behind the Wall) 1994 and is based on Pishach Dweep (Island of Evil) with a screenplay by Atikul Haq Chowdhury and stars Bipasha Hayat. In 2020, Jaaz Multimedia is about to release a Bengali film by Masood Rana Dhongsho Pahar. The film's director Asif Akbar based on the novel Dhangsa Pahar. He works under the direct command of Major General (retired) Rahat Khan of the fictitious Bangladeshi Counterintelligence (BKI). According to the series, Rana is also the founder and director of an international investigative firm called Rana Agency, which is a cover for BCI in the form of a private investigative agency. Rana is also chairman of the Saul Shipping Corporation, who took over after the death of Rebecca Saul. Early life Masoud Rana was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh to Judge Imtiaz Chowdhury and Jahanara Imtiaz Chowdhury. Rana was orphaned at the age of 13 when his parents died in a car crash near Chittagong, Bangladesh. After the death of his parents, Rana went to live with his aunt Ismat Ara in Fort William, Highland. He later briefly attended Eton College as a student. According to early Pakistani-era novels, Rana joined the Pakistani army and graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He began his army career in the infantry (the regiment is unknown) and went on to become a commando and joined military intelligence, reaching the rank of major at a young age. He was recruited by Rahat Khan in PCI (later BCI). Major Rana participated in Bangladesh's liberation war, fought on the front lines with the guerrillas, hiding identity and rank. After independence, Rana and Sohel built BKI from the ashes, and Sohel worked in the light, and Rana remained in the shadows. Masood Rana's psychological assessment is a unique person. He seems to have a sound mind and strong principles and spirit. Rana is not afraid of death. The wound has a remarkable willingness to take near heavy risks. The wound is lonely. He does not comfort himself by surrounding himself with others. His sports activities are usually solitary: running, skiing, hiking, swimming, diving, and, most surprisingly, mountaineering. Rana likes to push herself to the limit, both mentally and physically. He is prone to boredom and mild depression when not challenged. Rana likes to drink and gamble, although the former seems to be a way for him to check his personal limits at times rather than vice. The wound is known to play more than he can afford to lose, although he always plays with a plan and a clear understanding of the odds. The wound has strong interpersonal skills. He can act comfortably in many situations, but does not seek communication, except, above all, for sexual rest. Lone Wolf Rana personality type tends to attract others. The wound is purposeful, but it often seeks these goals in an indirect and secretive way. The wound seems to be an emotional and mental need for several layers of reality. He thrives when he does not reveal everything about himself, carefully organizing aspects of his personality that he reveals to others. Thus Rana is excellent as burying information he does not want to show. Rana is looking for a structure in her life. He is a man of pattern and habit. He acquired strong tastes. While Rana thrives under the buy structure yet he finds subtle ways to rebel against him. Rana uses humor as a shield and a weapon. He skillfully makes cutting remarks that show insecurity in others or mock death, danger and risk. Most importantly, Rana is deeply loyal to institutions. His conception of his nationality is a significant part of his personality. While the world is far from the black and white Masood Rana, he tends to see him in the harsh conditions of chaos and order, tradition and change. Rana decided to identify with order and tradition. Major Rana is an excellent candidate for sensational and high-risk intelligence, espionage, counterintelligence and covert job operations. Hobby Masood Rana succeeds in single sports. He is an avid climber, diver, swimmer and excellent runner. Major Rana does not race cars, but he likes to drive very expensive vehicles very fast.

MATTHEW REILLY UNIVERSE A Jumpchain CYOA Welcome to the shared universe of Matthew Reilly’s novels. You, visitor, are at the tip of the spear. This world of high stakes, nail-biting action needs heroes like you, now more than ever, to defend its people from forces that would seek to control it for their own ends. To explain a little more about the world you’ve stumbled into, to the vast bulk of humanity the world is quite mundane; your average citizen has as roughly the same concept of their world as you or I, and it would be quite easy to live your life as though nothing was any different. Yet behind the curtain, many wheels are in motion. Intelligence organisations and Special Forces units clash in exotic locations – Antarctic research labs, overgrown ruins, secret military facilities – often where highly unusual discoveries are made and where the most daring come away with the prize. Heavily-armed bounty hunters and Private Military Corporations chase lucrative contracts across the world for money and glory; careless of international law and often any collateral damage. In uncharted wilds, hidden cultures and tribes who have never been exposed to the modern world protect secrets from the forgotten past and carry out the rites of their forefathers to this day. Shadowy groups steer the courses of governments with hidden hands. Conspiracies of hate and enlightenment both grow inky webs throughout the military-industrial complex and permeate universities, corporations, the government and other institutions. And behind even these secret manipulators lie great mysteries which continue to shape the world as we know it after many thousands of years, and which may spell its doom...or its salvation.

About Jack West Jr and the Hero’s Helmet Jack West Jr. Adventurer. Scholar. Warrior. He is known for his cool head under pressure . and also for the battered fireman’s helmet he has worn throughout his adventures. This is the story of how he got it. BEWARE OF THE HALF TRUTH. YOU MAY HAVE GOTTEN HOLD OF THE WRONG HALF. UNKNOWN THE TEMPLE OF DENDUR South of Aswan, Egypt Source: Brooklyn Museum Archives, Goodyear Archival Collection (via Wikipedia) 1 THE TEMPLE OF DENDUR 8:35 P.M. 24 DECEMBER 1994 Night had fallen by the time Jack West Jr was able to erect his high stepladder and get up close to the roof of the stone temple. He peered at a single crumbling 2,000-year-old sandstone brick. It was weathered and worn yet oddly beautiful. It was one of eight such bricks that ran along the roofline of the gate of the Egyptian Temple of Dendur. Peering closer, Jack saw it, and his heart almost skipped a beat. There, in the top left corner of the brick, was the inscription that he had based his entire thesis upon: a tiny shepherd’s crook hewn into the off-yellow stone. He couldn’t believe he was about to do this. If what he had postulated was true, then it would make his name in the world of international archaeology . and he was only twenty-five. He gazed at the stone brick that surmounted the Egyptian tem- ple’s entrance and for the hundredth time wondered if there was indeed something embedded within that lone brick— ‘Mommy! I wanna go home!’ a child’s voice said from some- where nearby and Jack turned from his perch.

A return to form.By Gunta007This is my first book review, so please bear with me.I have been a fan of Matthew Reilly's books for a long while and enjoyed them thoroughly, whilst still being able to acknowledge their shortcomings. I was dissappointed with 5 Greatest Warriors, and to a lesser extent with 6 Sacred Stones, as I believed they were becoming a little too "over the top". I know, this is Matthew Reilly I'm talking about, but these ones should almost have been comic books rather than fiction books. I was somewhat concerned that this new book may have suffered from a similar fate, but fortunately this hasn't been the case. The return of Scarecrow I feel has been a return to form for Matthew Reilly. The same formula is present, go-to-woe action adventure with over the top stunts and set-pieces. Bad villains and good heroes.

  • Submission by Matthew Reilly to the Productivity Commission Issues Paper: Copyright Restrictions on the Parallel Importation of Books
SUBMISSION BY MATTHEW REILLY TO THE PRODUCTIVITY COMMISSION ISSUES PAPER: COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS ON THE PARALLEL IMPORTATION OF BOOKS MY BACKGROUND My name is Matthew Reilly and I am an Australian author. I am also a member of the Commonwealth Government’s Public Lending Right (PLR) Committee, as a representative of Australian authors. Over the last ten years, I have sold nearly 4 million novels around the world. My novels are published in over twenty territories. MY SUBMISSION I would like to express in the strongest possible terms my belief that the removal of protective parallel importation provisions will be disastrous for Australian authors, Australian publishers and, most of all, the Australian reading public. Right now in Australia we have a remarkably vibrant publishing culture through which new Australian authors (like me) are regularly discovered. Australian authors are then published at a world-class level by local companies who employ talented local editors and support staff. It is my belief that if the parallel importation provisions (hereafter “the PI provisions”) are removed, the flourishing Australian book publishing industry will be reduced to little more than a collection of distribution warehouses for overseas English-language publishers in the US and UK. SOME RELEVANT ISSUES Is cheaper really better? I am aware that those who argue in favour of removing the PI provisions claim that “books will be cheaper” and yes, books could indeed be made cheaper by a dollar or two if the PI provisions are removed. However, in my opinion, the adverse effects on authors, on our superb literary culture, and on our publishing industry do not justify such a modest saving by consumers.

NOTES FOR READING GROUPS Matthew Reilly THE TOURNAMENT Notes by Robyn Sheahan-Bright CONTENTS: Thematic & Plot Summary Writing Style The Author Questions for Discussion 2 THEMATIC AND PLOT SUMMARY ‘Chess, Ascham claimed, taught many important lessons: to flatter one’s opponent, to lay traps and to see them laid, to be bold and to restrain one’s tendency to boldness, to appear naïve when in truth one is alert, to see the future many moves ahead and to discover that decisions always have consequences. Ascham taught my young mistress well.’ (p 5) ‘To learn, as far as Roger Ascham was concerned, was the noblest of all human endeavours, and it was an active one.’ (p 18) Set in 1546, this historical thriller imagines the teenage Bess, later to be Queen Elizabeth I, witnessing a chess tournament organised by Suleiman the Magnificent, the increasingly powerful Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. After the Moslem ruler issues an irrefutable challenge to the kings of Europe, ‘YOU ARE INVITED TO SEND YOUR FINEST PLAYER OF THE GAME KNOWN AS…CHESS TO COMPETE IN A TOURNAMENT TO DETERMINE THE CHAMPION OF THE KNOWN WORLD’ (p 16), Bess joins her teacher, esteemed scholar Roger Ascham, as part of the English delegation to Constantinople. Also included in the entourage are English chess master, Mr Giles, the insufferably priggish Ponsonbys, and Bess’s beautiful and licentious friend Elsie. Initially, Bess marvels at the wonders of the Ottoman capital and the illustrious dignitaries attending the tournament. But her awe is too soon supplanted by horror when a violent murder takes place in the palace, and the Sultan enlists Ascham’s aid to catch the killer.

The chapel at King’s College, stupendous and imposing at the best of times, had been converted into a colossal audience chamber for King Henry and it was filled to bursting point with academics, students, puffed-up local nobles and the awestruck townsfolk of Cambridge. The king sat on a high throne that had been placed on a stage at the front of the chapel’s three-hundred-foot-long nave, which was only right, as just two years previously he had paid for the completion of the chapel, in doing so finishing a building project that had been begun almost one hundred years earlier at the command of Henry VI. Outside, a steady snow fell. It had been a cold and bitter winter. The trees, roads and lawns of Cambridge were covered in white and the river had frozen over.
