EMPLOYMENT HISTORY: Private Practice - Dr. Peter Guhl, PLC & Associates - York County, Virginia Profile of the position: -Full strategic, tactical, organizational, compliance and managerial aspects of a solo practice. -Primary/preventative eyecare including specialty contacts, optical dispensary and eye care. -Medical eyecare including all non-surgical areas: Treatment/management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, infections, injuries, dry eye, peri-operative care, foreign body removal, etc. I utilize cutting edge technology; visual field tests, OCT, fundus and external photography, topography, pachymetry, tonometry and other means to assess, prescribe and manage ocular disease and injury. - Neuro-optometric rehabilitation including vision for those with acquired brain injuries, neurodegenerative disease, developmental or functional disorders. Assessing, creating and executing a plan of care for those with reduced visual acuity, impaired contrast sensitivity function, impaired peripheral visual fields, accommodative and dysfunction, loss of depth perception, diminished cognitive, perceptual and sensory-integrative abilities which impair activities of daily living, or create academic or vocational limitations. I co-ordinate care and receive referrals from many specialties including: optometrists, ophthalmologists, neurologists, neuropsychiatrists, physiatrists, OT, PT, SLP, schools and learning centers. I utilize functional vision evaluation instruments including VEP, ERG electrodiagnostic testing, assessment of visual acuity, visual fields, visual perception and visual motor functioning, literacy skills in reading and writing, etc. as they relate to vision impairment and disability. -Low vision rehabilitation for those with reduced visual acuity and field loss.
