3.01.0000.00 Release Notes VTrak® A-Class Mac OS X or macOS SAN Client VTrak Mac OS X Client Package 1.4.2 (build 54047) Release Notes. (Mac OS X/macOS Clients only) This Mac Client Package Requires VTrak A-Class firmware SR3.3 Version 1.16.0000.00 or later R1.00 10/25/2017 This document is applicable for SAN Clients of the following PROMISE A-Class models: Model Description VTrak A3800fSL 4U/24 FC, single controller with 2 FS Support VTrak A3800fDM 4U/24 FC, dual controller with 4 FS support VTrak A3600fSL 3U/16 FC, single controller with 2 FS Support VTrak A3600fDM 3U/16 FC, dual controller with 4 FS support The Client Operating Systems supported by this release include: Vendor Platform Type macOS 10.13 x64 macOS 10.12 (10.12.4, x64 Apple 10.12.5, 10.12.6) OS X 10.11 (10.11.6) x64 VTrak Client Package version 1.4.2 (54047) This release includes the macOS (High Sierra) 10.13 Support Notes: . Includes Extended ACL support for SAN client . Includes Spotlight support - Command line command “mdutil -i on” to enable Spotlight on VTrakFS (network) volume . Supports for English language only. The option to switch language is not implemented. R1.00 10/25/2017 Important Note on upgrading the VTrak Client in macOS 10.13: Sometimes after upgrading to macOS 10.13 and installing the new VTrakFS Client, you won’t be able to mount the file system. This is likely due to complications from the new requirements for User Approved Kernel Extension loading in macOS 10.13. Refer to this link: All third party drivers installed require consent from the end-user in macOS 10.13. Frequently stale entries from previous drivers from vendors, such as Promise, remain even after uninstalling them and block the ability of the user to Allow the new client to be loaded in the Security & Privacy Dialogue box. If this happens, the new VTrakFS Client can successfully be installed after resetting the NVRAM and installing the VTrak client again. This can be done by following the steps below. Then the VTrakFS client can mount file system. The steps are: 1. Uninstall VTrakFS client 2. Reset NVRAM. Click on this link to Apple's KB for information on how to do this. 3. Boot Mac 4. Install VTrakFS client 5. Go to Security & Privacy. Now you should be able to click button “Allow” to unblock VTrakFS client. Mac OS X Client Specific Fixes The following changes were made since the Mac VTrak Client 1.4.2-51616 Release. Ref # Description 221110 Fixed auto mount issue on 10.9 client R1.00 10/25/2017 225099 Fixed host restart issue on Max OSX 10.11.1 that could happen when AClass storage was discovered or rediscovered. 228712 Fixed issue where defrag sometimes would hang following a Filesystem expansion 228927 on VTrak A-Class setup. Additional Information Note on running OS X 10.11.1 or later with a Promise SANLink 2 Use the SANLink 2 OS X Driver version 2.0.7 or later on the OS X Client. The previous 1.2.2 driver won’t allow the user to refresh the LUN Mapping and Masking (LMM) Table on the client. Notes on Mac SMB Re-share with Directory Server Extended ACL works with SMB reshare with directory server . Mac OS X 10.11,10.12 and 10.13 have been qualified . Directory server supports both Mac OD and Windows AD . Mac OD can be installed on the same server as SMB or on a different server . Mac Server app version 4 and 5 are supported . Windows 2008 AD has been tested . Windows 2012 AD has been tested Note: 1. Windows 2012 SMB client cannot see content when the AClass volume ROOT folder is reshared on Mac SMB server 2. Issue only happens when root folder is reshared. Sub folders don't have such a problem. 3. Issue only happens on Windows 2012. This problem doesn’t happen on Windows 10 or Windows 2008 Support Extended ACL for both folders and files Support Extended ACL for multiple Users and Groups . Local Users and Groups . This issue does not occur if the File Sharing and Open Directory are running on the same Mac Server. [RB-227271] SMB Reshare_Write security permissions_Linux SMB client R1.00 10/25/2017 Even after setting Allow to Modfiy the permissions of folders/files created on the FS on Mac SMB server, the Linux SMB client is unable to change/write the permissions [RB-227399] SMB Reshare_WriteAttr_Mac SMB client Even after setting Allow write attr permissions on folders/files created on the FS on Mac SMB server, the Mac SMB client is still unable to modify/change the attributes. [RB-227255] Unable to Append a File created on the A-Class File System mounted via SMB Reshare on a Linux SMB client. STEP2: LOG ON TO SBBC ¾ Click on Finder on the Dock, then select Go from the top menu and choose Connect to Server. ¾ In the Connect to Server window, in the Address area near the bottom, enter : afp:/at/ETS01:TSSC , then click Connect button. ¾ In the window that next appears, Connect to file server "ETS01, select the Guest option and click the Connect button. ¾ In the ETS01 window that will appear, select SBBC and Click the OK button. An SBBC icon is now on your desktop. (This icon is a shortcut to the application software that is stored on the district network.) ¾ Close the ETS01 window.
