TRANSFER OF LOÏC RÉMY TO OGC

Second double of the season: The women’s team win the French Division 1 title and the Challenge de

Lyon, 5 June 2008

A first in the history of French football

Like their male counterparts, the women’s team also took home a double, winning the Challenge de France on 3 June against PSG after clinching their league title for the second consecutive time.

This is the first time in the history of French football that two teams from the same club have won a double in the same season.

The men’s team, which secured their double by winning both the title and the Coupe de France, had started the season by prevailing in the Peace Cup and the Trophée des Champions. Eliminated in the first knockout round of the Champions League by the eventual winner, Manchester United, Olympique Lyonnais will participate in this competition for the ninth consecutive time during the 2008-09 season. OL is currently the 3rd-highest ranked, qualified club in Europe, after Manchester United and Chelsea.

Transfer of Loïc Rémy

Striker Loïc Rémy, 21, who came up through the Olympique Lyonnais academy and was on loan to Racing Club de Lens from January 2008, has been transferred today to OGC Nice. The amount of the transfer is €8 million under French accounting standards and might be increased by incentives worth up to a maximum of €3 million. The incentives are linked to the performance of OGC Nice over the four years to which the contract applies.
