Intriguing tales that GRIP the imaginationBy Hank SchwartzI don't usually turn to short stories for a good read, but I was completely fascinated and satisfied by this collection of 11 tales and 4 story poems.Haldeman's unbounded imagination has yielded a variety of most curious beings and circumstances, augmented by many of his personal experiences that sparked or helped to form these vignettes.I appreciated the biographical insights that he provided in his introduction and in the brief addenda that follow each piece. Some short, some quite long, but each one a thought provoker with haunting images that will continue to pull at you after you believed that you'd laid this one down.0 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Very dissapointed.By rsnoozeI read "The Accidental Time Machine" by Joe Haldeman and enjoyed it. I bought this thinking it would be as good. I turned out to be very bland ad boring.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful.

DRAGON’S WORLD DRAGON’S WORLD LTD, 7 ST GEORGE’S SQUARE, LONDON SW1V 2HX ’93, ‘94 Hugo Award Winner ’91 WorldCon, ’92 British Fantasy Con Special Awards Science Fiction Chronicle The Monthly SF & Fantasy News Magazine, bringing the worlds of SF & fantasy to your mailbox —or postbox— since 1979 While you’re waiting for the Hugo Awards Ceremony to begin, please read an Editorial Opinion by Andrew Porter, Science Fiction Chronicle’s editor/publisher... What’s Wrong with the Hugo Voting? We all know there are lots of things wrong with the Hugo voting, including the perennial problem of including apples and oranges, as it were, in the Semiprozine category. How do you choose between Interzone and Science Fiction Chronicle! More to the point, problems in categories and definitions are exacerbated by how few people actually vote for the awards. Of 8,000 members of 1993’s Worldcon, less than 10% actually voted. The weird thing is that the presentation of the Hugo Awards was attended by thousands who applauded their favorites but couldn’t be bothered to fill out and send in the ballot, although it cost them nothing except a few minutes and a postage stamp. Here are some ways to increase the number of people who vote. Pay people to vote. Offer them $2 (or £2) back when they show up at the convention, or mail them a $2 bill (or a Scottish £1 note) when their votes are received.
