As always, it’s an honour and a privilege to work with a team who continue to be very hard working and dedicated to the success of each and every one of our children. May is shaping up to be busy. It’s that time of year for students, especially high school students, to begin preparing for finals coming in June. There will be an exam schedule included in next June’s newsletter as well as posting throughout the school for PATs, Diploma and school based exams coming in May and June. ekosi pihta (that’s it for now) Mr. Cory Arcand KEC Principal Kipohtakaw Education Centre May 2019 Tânisi! Only one month of school left before another school year ends. While staff have many fun activities planned for our students at this time of year, students also have to be prepared for the very serious activities like tests and completing assignments. One of our special activities this month for our Elementary students is our Culture Camp, May 6 to 10, 2019. Please know that you are welcome to come and share in the excitement as your children learn about their rich cultural heritage, in a fun, learning environment. In addition to our year end exams, Grades 6 students will be writing the Provincial Achievement Test. This year, Language Arts – Part A will be written on May 7th between 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Unfortunately, this is during our Culture Camp but the Grade 6 students will still be able to join the others for the afternoon session that day. Every child has a dream. With our support, we could help every dream to become a reality. To ensure that students perform to their full potential; parents, please remember to do your part at home by providing: Quiet time for homework and review Opportunity for physical exercise Healthy meals and snacks Early bed time Excellent attendance and punctuality at school Daily HUGS Ay ay, Betty Sewlal Mrs. Park’s High School Math The students continue to work on their math courses. We will continue to work at a fast pace, so please do not miss class. I am available to help and work with the students’ after school until 4:00 pm and at lunch. Please let me know if you would like extra help or assistance. Junior and Senior High Students The year is coming to an end and the students are well on their way to the finish line. Please ensure that they are present in class and are completing their assignments. In senior high, the academies continue to work with NAIT, CLAC and Volleyball Canada to get their CTS credits. The Grade 9 students will be writing PAT exams. The first one, Language Arts Part A, will be on May 8, 2019 from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm. Please ensure that your child is at school for this ex- am. FNSSP As we come to the end of another successful year, FNSSP will start planning for the new school year. We hope to continue the good programming and resources thus far, but also want to bring in new resources and programming to ensure the success of our students. At the end of the month, we will be doing our year end assessments and reports. Surveys for students, parents, and staff will be conducted this month to ensure that we are being accountable to the community and focus on areas of need. W A R R I O R S Tansi, We would like wish all our preschool moms a Happy Mothers Day. As we end our short month of April, we are excited to enter the month of May. We are continuing to explore the season changes that spring brings and learning about flowers blooming. We are also excited to announce that we are participating in our school’s culture camp during the week of May 6 – 10. With this being said, the spring Alberta weather can be unpredictable at times so please dress your child accordingly to the weather daily, such as providing your child with a sweater and jacket.
