He led the Bellevue Bruins with a batting average of .447 his senior year and earned the honor of Academic All-American . He was also selected as the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) Male Scholar Athlete of the Year and earned 2nd Team All Nebraska and 2nd Team MCAC honors . While at Bellevue he was a member of two MCAC Championship teams and participated in the 2007 and 2008 NAIA World Series . Slade graduated from West High School in 2004 where he was selected as an All-Region three times, and selected twice as an All-State team member. Coach Slade earned his bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University in 2009 in Physical Education & Sports Studies with 6 a minor in Coaching Theory .
