Introduction The Data Quality project has been implemented in your county’s record/case management system. As a result, several adjustments have been made to the input screens used to capture and record data in your DSI Legacy AP System. These changes are necessary to standardize data and comply with the National Information Exchange Model’s (NIEM) standard for criminal justice data. The goal of this project and these changes is to standardize the language used to describe offenders so that data may be shared electronically and consistently between county, state, and federal agencies. Those agencies receiving NIEM compliant data are able to ensure consistency and increase accuracy of reporting data to criminal justice data repositories. The changes and accompanying explanation are below by screen.

The NIEM standard as it applies to Pennsylvania is further explained in the Data Quality for Criminal Justice Systems Toolkit available on the project website. Please visit the website and download the complete toolkit for further explanation and definition. http://www.pacounties.org/TechnologyServices/Pages/DataQualityProject.aspx . For additional information regarding the NIEM standard and its applicability to criminal justice, visit http://www.niem.gov/Domains_Justice.php .
