Common name: Pink Tongues Stem Upright branched herbs 10-30 cm tall. Stems clothed in straight and hooked hairs which point downwards. Leaves Flowers. © CSIRO Petioles broad, 2-5 mm long; leaf blades about 7-15 x 4-8 mm, clothed in straight and hooked hairs, margins ciliate. Flowers Individual flowers subtended by bracts about 3 mm long. Sepals about 4 mm long. Corolla 2-lipped, the smaller lip white and about 6 mm long, the larger lip purple and about 7 mm long. Anthers purple, about 0.5 mm long, filaments about 2 mm long. Pollen cream. Anther sacs one above the other on the filament, the lower sac with a tail. Ovary about 1 mm long seated on a 2-lobed disk. Style about 4 Flowers. © CSIRO mm long encased in a groove on the inner surface of the upper corolla lip. Fruit Capsule 4-6 mm long. Seed 0.9-1.5 mm long. Seedlings Features not available. Distribution and Ecology A native species found in CYP, NEQ, CEQ and in inland parts of central Queensland, central parts of Western , southern part of the Northern Territory, northern part of and the northern part of Victoria. Grows in woodland, deciduous vine thicket, closed forest, rainforest on Scale bar 10mm. © CSIRO sandy and rocky basaltic soils. Natural History & Notes Probably the variety of this species most commonly found in vine forest and rain forest communities. Sometimes heavily grazed.
