Enjoy the beauty of the Norfolk countryside and panoramic views of the Weybourne coastline. Self guided leaflets are available to guide you through the glorious range of habitats, wildlife and history of Kelling Heath. If you want to use the Park as a base and explore other long distance footpaths there are a number of routes that take in more of the beautiful surrounding countryside and coast, depending on how far your legs will carry you! Board the North Norfolk Steam Railway at Kelling’s own halt travelling to Sheringham or Holt and back. Guided walks and events Join members of our experienced countryside team in exploring the Park and finding out more about its wealth of wildlife. A mix of guided bat, bird and general nature walks means learning about the Kelling estate couldn’t be easier. Add in our programme of special events and you have a huge variety of organised events that the whole family can enjoy. Trail activities There is a fitness trail through the woodland if you want to keep in shape as you enjoy your surroundings, or you can try your hand at orienteering, a recreational activity which is great fun for all the family. If you enjoy cycling, you can follow Kelling’s own signed cycle route around the perimeter of the Park or venture into the quiet country lanes which surround us. Acorn Events offers children and families the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities linked to the natural environment, learning more about the wildlife and work of the Norfolk countryside in a relaxed and fun way. Cycle Hire and Repairs We have bikes of all sizes with fixtures and fittings for children and toddlers. We are also happy to help you with any problems that need fixing with your own bike. The Red Squirrel Breeding Programme At Kelling Heath we are pleased to have captive red squirrels, which are part of a national scheme for captive breeding. Paved and landscaped to blend with the natural beauty of Kelling Heath, it’s a bustling yet tranquil location in which to relax with the morning paper, a lunchtime snack or an evening drink. Enjoy the facilities that lead off from the Square or seek out information on the daily activities at Kelling. Whatever your appetite Dining options can include a choice of ‘Brackens Café & Pizzeria’ or ‘The Forge & Terrace’ where you can choose from table service dining in the Terrace or the more relaxed pub style atmosphere of the Forge Bar. Our aim is to provide a selection of locally sourced food and we work closely with our suppliers to source high quality, fresh, seasonal food for you to enjoy. The menus always include daily specials which reflect the season so you could enjoy mussels in early spring or venison in autumn. Whenever you’re staying with us you’ll be able to sample something special from Norfolk. The Village Store is open every day offering a selection of fresh local produce and a range of groceries, newspapers and gifts. Entertainment for all tastes The Village Square buzzes with activity especially during the evening when the Folly or Terrace plays host to a variety of traditional entertainment – jazz bands, folk music and ceilidh bands, whilst on selected days children will enjoy the early evening Acorn Events and entertainment. If it’s a touch of Mediterranean flavour that you’re after, have a go at petanque, the traditional game of French boules, located to the side of the Village Square. Our friendly team of trained leisure professionals is on hand to help and advise on individual fitness programmes. This prestigious club is available for guests’ use through various membership options, please refer to the tariffs and restrictions in the how to book and tariffs section. Complimentary membership is available to those occupying Kelling Lodges. Outdoor leisure Fun pool – A magnificent place to spend some time and available free of charge to all guests. The enclosed patio is surrounded by an attractive Norfolk stone and flint wall with a backdrop of mature pines, sunny and sheltered, where everyone can relax including toddlers who love the integral paddling pool. Tennis courts – Two hard surface courts located close to the Village Square and table tennis in the Village Square. Eco Gym – Stay in trim and follow the trail through the woodland.
