By way ofbackgro\lnd, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is an organization of fifteen Caribbean nations.and dependencies whose main objective is to promote economic integration and cooperation among its members. Its major activities involve coordinating economic policies and development planning; devising and instituting special projects for the less-developed countries within its jurisdiction; operating as a regional single market for many of its members; and handling regional trade disputes. The Prime Minister serves as the 1.,ead Head of Government for Sustainable Development including Disaster Management in the CARI COM Quasi Cabinet.

As you know, several of these territories were affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Our firm, in concert with Carnival Corporation, is working with CARI COM Chairman, Keith Mitchell of Grenada, and St. Lucia representatives, including Ambassador Anton Edmunds and Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, in developing a hurricane relief strategy, namely identifying potential funding request opportunities for the affected territories which fall under CARlCOM jurisdiction. Prime Minister Chastanet is in town this week, and Mr. Alcalde would like to bring him by to briefly discuss this matter with Mr, Reed and Ms. Bovo anytime from 2:00pm-3:00pm on Wednesday, October 11, or 4:30pm - 6:30pm on Friday, October 13. Ambassador Edmunds will also be joining Mr. Alcalde, in addition to Tandy Bondi, VP of Public Affairs with Carnival North America.
