By way of background, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is an organization of fifteen Caribbean nations and dependencies whose main objective is to promote economic integration and cooperation among its members. Its major activities involve coordinating economic policies and development planning; devising and instituting special projects for the less-developed countries within its jurisdiction; operating as a regional single market for many of its members; and handling regional trade disputes. For your general information, below please find a full list of CARI COM territories Ambassador Edmunds will be speaking on behalf of: CARICOM Member States • Antigua and Barbuda • Bahamas • Barbados. • Belize • Dominica • Grenada • Guyana • Haiti • Jamaica • Montserrat • Saint Kitts and Nevis • Saint Lucia • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines • Surin•a·me • Trinidad and Tobago As you know, several of these territories were affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Our firm, in concert with Carnival Corporation, is working with CARICOM Chairman, Keith Mitchell of Grenada, and St Lucia representatives, including Ambassador Anton Edmunds and Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, Lead Head ofGovernment for Sustainable Development including Disaster Management in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, in developing a hurricane relief strategy, namely identifying potential funding request opportunities for the affected territories which fall under CARI COM jurisdiction. Ambassador Edmunds is in town this week, and we would like to bring him by to briefly discuss this matter anytime during 2:30pm - 4:30pm tomorrow, your schedule permitting.
