IOU's activities include reviewing and archiving sightings of rare birds through the Iowa Records Committee, publishing Iowa Life: The Iowa Ornithologists' Union quarterly journal, publishing IOU News, the quarterly newsletter, organizing field trips, and holding semi- annual weekends in various locations throughout the state.
