  • Witches Sabbath( the Great He- Goat)
Witches sabbath( the great he- goat) Continue Otherwise known as the Great On-Goat, Francisco Goya provides a visually stunning and historically terrifying representation of this famous mural that adorned the mid-1800s that brought to life vivid and terrifying memories of the Spanish Inquisition. The description of the painting depicts Satan surrounded by a group of frightened and anxiously mutilated witches. Satan appears as an almost shady goat whose characteristics are not so easy to see or define. A goat man appears with his mouth wide open, as if he are shouting curses (or instructions) to his closest followers. He appeals to the modern belief that power is asserted through fear, not respect for power or title. Women's age varies, but throughout their work they have similar distortions. They seem frightened, but overwhelmingly obedient, as if they obey Satan's orders and intentions to obey. He is considered to be part of fourteen or more paintings depicting Goyah's Black Paintings. The story of Francisco Goya took extreme measures and risks on the heels of the terrible Spanish Inquisition, as well as the witch hunt and trials that followed soon after. Goya directly and visually attacks the feelings and mentality of the time, which reveled in superstitions and religious horror on the dark side of human nature. Although this mural (among other works by Goya) was moderately hidden during its creation for fear of recriminations in his artistic commentary, it is considered one of his best works - all of which appear later in his career. Francisco Goya retreated from the public eye and was constantly afraid to go crazy.

FLAMENCO FLAMENCO 01. SYNOPSIS 02. DIRECTOR’S NOTES 03. CARLOS SAURA 04. VITTORIO STORARO 05. CAST & CREW 06. FILM DETAILS 07. THE PRODUCTION COMPANY 01. SYNOPSIS Considered the greatest exponent of the particular way of making musical films of Carlos Saura, Flamenco, flamenco arises, through a journey of light and life, the evolution of the songs, dances and music of this art that, in the director own words, would be heritage of the universe. With the experience and knowledge that Carlos Saura’s films have gained over time, we enter in the roads of the existing talents of this art so alive and dynamic that flamenco is it, to present his new film which uses innovative elements, in the technical field as in the narrative, becoming a unique production. The film shows that there is a powerful new flamenco, of young talents finding their way in our country and beyond our borders, but the reality of this art can not be reflected in the right way without some of the great living masters that we are fortunate to have in Spain. 02. DIRECTOR’S NOTES Carlos Saura It is always difficult to write about the ideas that lead me to create my musical films. It is difficult because the actual scripts I use are barely three or four pages long, where the different dances that have been chosen are in order, with the artist’s name and the space in which the dance might develop. It is even more difficult because part of the stimulus, the fun that always comes with the filming is based – let's face it – on the possibility of improvising in this type of cinema.

Enrique Granados To pay homage to Granados here in London also seems especially fi tting given that the great Composer spent his fi nal days on British shores. Granados Will you drowned tragically in the English Channel along with his wife Amparo after their boat, the SS Sussex, was torpedoed by the Germans. • The Third of May 1808, Francisco Goya, Oil on Canvas 1814
Part C Term 1 Assessment With three artists from different countries and backgrounds it is interesting that they have all, in some of their works, decided to work with the same concept. The one element that unites the works of Spaniard Francisco Goya, German John Heartfield and Hungarian Robert Capa is that, at least at some point in their career, they have all chosen to depict the universal issue of war. Goya extensively employed colour and unique paint application techniques to explore the emotional side of war and conflict during the invasion of Spain by France, while Heartfield used the composite medium of photomontage to protest against the suffering of desperate people under the Nazi reign. At a similar time to Heartfield, and at times in the same countries as both Goya and Heartfield, Capa photographed at least five different wars and captured mainly action photos aimed at portraying the violence of armed conflict. All three artists incorporate the human figure as part of their subject matter, but in my opinion John Heartfield and Francisco Goya are more persuasive in communicating their intentions than Robert Capa. Francisco Goya was born in Spain in 1746 and practiced artmaking almost to the end of his life in 1828. He was the official court painter to Charles IV and the director of the Spanish Royal Academy, and with these connections he became a favourite of the wealthy who employed him to paint their portraits. Goya was part of the Romanticism movement and mainly worked with the media of paint; however he was prolific in the production of both paintings and prints (zinc plate and etching among others.) Francisco had a free, painterly style and he often used his fingers in the place of a brush as he painted.

GOYA INSIDE LITERATURES, ANOTHER TEXTS Abstract: Information and critic of novel and poems concerning Goya’s life and his works, texts not included in the monographies published until December 2017. Key words: Goya theme; recents texts; novel, short story, poetry; languages.

Their making usually reflects a determination on the part of the director or star to see the artist as an alter-ego. Many of them were adaptations of successful literary works, which tempted financial backers by having a ready-made audience based on a pre-established reputation. The sub-genre’s development is explored via the grouping of films with associated themes and the use of case studies.

Abstract: Francisco de Goya might be the most international Spanish painter ever. His life and works have influenced diverse artistic expressions; among them, the film industry offers us several approaches regarding the figure of the painter, becoming the main or secondary character depending on the plot of the film. Through out these pages, we will get closer to his personality, beginning with those biographic aspects which have had a bigger repercussion on the so-called the cinema; and that, as an example, we highlight in two Spanish productions almost released at the same time: Volavérunt (Bigas Luna, 1999) y Goya en Burdeos (Carlos Saura, 1999). Key words: Cinema, painting, biopic, Francisco de Goya.
