The only things he loves more, he will tell you, are Jesus Christ and his family: wife Susan and children Alex and Ann. Bailey sees his work at George Fox as more than just a job, and more than just an effort to build a winning program. For him, it is a ministry, a chance to influence and mold a group of young student-athletes into successful people, both on the field and off the field in the everyday walks of life. 'There is nothing that pleases me more," Bailey admits, "than having people wherever we play tell me what fine young men we have, and how classy and polite our players are. I want our team to represent themselves, their teammates, their school, and the Lord with character and integrity." The Bruins got the opportunity to do just that on a nation-wide scale this past spring, winning the NCAA Division Ill Regional for the first time and earning a berth in the Division Ill World Series in Appleton, Wise. The winning didn't stop after the regional, though, as the Bruins went on to capture the whole thing, going 5-1 in the tournament and defeating #1-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University 6-3 in the title game to bring home the first NCAA national championship in George Fox history. The World Series crown was the culmination of a highly-successful nine years for Bailey at the Quaker institution 24 miles southwest of Portland, Ore. The Bruins have never had a losing season with Bailey at the helm, posting a 262- 120 record during his tenure, including this year's record-setting 40-10 mark.

ARTICLES It’s Not About the Money: THE ROLE OF PREFERENCES, COGNITIVE BIASES, AND HEURISTICS AMONG PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES Michael A. McCann† I. INTRODUCTION Professional athletes are often regarded as selfish, greedy, and out-of-touch with regular people. They hire agents who are vilified for negotiating employment contracts that occasionally yield compensation in excess of national gross domestic products.1 Professional athletes are thus commonly assumed to most value economic remuneration, rather than the “love of the game” or some other intangible, romanticized inclination. Lending credibility to this intuition is the rational actor model; a law and economic precept which presupposes that when individuals are presented with a set of choices, they rationally weigh costs and benefits, and select the course of † Assistant Professor of Law, Mississippi College School of Law; LL.M., Harvard Law School; J.D., University of Virginia School of Law; B.A., Georgetown University. I got SOM’s baseball game a year later and I was hooked. I would get the new card set each year and attempt to play the in-progress season by moving the traded players around and turning ‘nameless player cards” into that year’s key rookies. I switched to APBA in the late ‘70’s because they started releasing some complete old season sets and the idea of playing with those really caught my fancy. Between then and the mid-nineties, I collected a lot of card sets.
