Sponsored By WOMAN'S AUXILIARY BOARD

OCTOBER 8, 1970

TAIL OF THE FOX :

EARLY HISTORY OF OUR WOMAN'S AUXILIARY BOARD A continuous span of eighty years marks the period of service given to our hospital by the Woman's Auxiliary Boardl In 1887, physicians of the hospital requested our aid "not only in domestic administration, but also to give benefits to raise funds needed to carry on their ministrations to the needy." We were than called a Board of Lady Managers. Our first Benefit was a concert given in 1891 to raise funds for repairs to a part of the medical school which had been destroyed by fire. We are the oldest hospital Auxiliary in Maryland, and as far as records indicate, we may be the oldest in the United States.

IN APPRECIATION On behalf of the Woman's Auxiliary Board, I wish to thank all of the members of our auxiliary and our many friends who make possible aur continued service and support of the University of Maryland Hospital.
