Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time. -

I was that horse-crazy girl who spent summers on horseback, falling in love over and over with these beautiful creatures. One by one I said goodbye to the horses of my youth. I now have only the photographs from those days to bring me back into the moments and the horses that shaped me. Now I have my own little farm and get to be with my sweet horses every day. De esta cantidad, solo 79 (6,6 %) están vigentes hoy, con nacimientos que abarcan no solo Paraguay, sino también Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile y España. En total, estos apellidos llevan unas 11.602 personas, nacidas en los últimos 150 años (1869-2019) en el área de extensión. Asunción es la localidad con mayor variedad de apellidos registrados (40 en total), y el departamento de menor cantidad es Boquerón (6 en total). El departamento de Caazapá con- centra la mayor cantidad de nacimiento de personas con apellidos guaraníes en toda el área. Guaraní surnames in Paraguay. Giving careful attention to the implications of a socially privileged racial status, this study draws on the personal narratives of three White, middle-class, heterosexual mothers living in Chicago to improve understanding of White, middle-class parenting around issues of race and racism and to critically examine the ways parenting practices relate to larger social Discourses in the United States that perpetuate or disrupt White supremacy.
