Indians were nomadic and had to carry all of their worldly possessions with them. This program will talk about the MVPs, or Most Valuable Possessions, of the southern plains Indian tribes. Using artifacts from PPHM’s Southern Plains Indian Trunk along with historical photos, we will discuss life on the southern plains. Our expertise is based on years devoted to the investigation and stabilization of the H.L. Hunley submarine (1864) and its associated artifacts housed at the WLCC since 2000. This program will present the story of the submarine HL Hunley and its importance in history, as well as the different steps of its conservation.

Curriculum History Description The upper program continues with more advanced ideas of technological progression and how naval warfare changed. The students are introduced to some of the more colorful characters in the navies of both sides. During the program, students are encouraged to discuss how the navy fits in with the bigger picture of the nation divided, then how our history is preserved through institutions such as the museum.

This program highlights how individual species and entire classes of creatures have adapted to survive on the rocky shore, the sandy beach and the salt marsh. Minute Man National Historical Park was created to commemorate thebattle and the lives of the people who experienced it. Visitors to the park can see and explore the places where the events of April 19, 1775 really happened. During this virtual visit, Park Ranger Jim Hollister,dressed as a colonial minute man, will lead students through the key events of April 19 th while showing images of the battle sites as they are today; preserved and protected as part of Minute Man National Historical Park.
