© Valencia Guitars - June 2019 © Valencia Guitars - June 2019. 1 When Valencia Guitars was first founded in Melbourne Australia in 1972, our first instruments reflected our vision to provide student guitarists with playable instruments of exceptional quality and value for money made to the highest possible manufacturing standards. For more than four decades these four distinct attributes have remained at the heart of the Valencia culture. Valencia is now the No. 1 selling guitar brand in many countries and, arguably, the world. Thousands of music stores around the world stock Valencia as their main classical guitar line. These guitar experts do this because Valencia guitars represent the very best value for money on the market! It’s for this reason alone that millions of guitarists around the world have started their musical journeys on a Valencia guitar. Valencia guitars are expertly crafted in three Southern China factories and in our own, purpose built manufacturing plant in Surabaya, Indonesia under the close supervision of a team of fully qualified guitar technicians employed exclusively by Valencia. OUR VISION is to provide guitarists with exceptional quality and value for money guitars made for excellent playability and to the highest manufacturing standards. OUR VALUES At Valencia we are committed to the highest standards of production, ethics and integrity. We care for our employees and their families, our customers and users of our products and to the society in which we all live. • Every Valencia instrument is built with a purpose – to provide the world with quality, affordable instruments that enhance and inspire a lifetime of playing music. • Every Valencia guitar is craftsman built using the best selected sustainably harvested tonewoods. • We continually strive to conserve resources, preserve natural habitats and prevent pollution. • Our factories conform strictly to local and international labour laws. • To ensure our production and quality standards adhere to our values, Quality Control in all our factories is overseen by a team of fully qualified guitar technicians employed exclusively by Valencia. • With the opening of our own purpose built factory in Surabaya, Indonesia, our team is committed to produce instruments with features and specifications far superior to those offered by our competitors in similar price points and unprecedented in the history of guitar manufacturing. • All instruments are checked by hand before leaving our distribution centre in Melbourne to ensure your instrument is playable when you receive it. • Trusted, first choice in schools for over 30 years. 2 VALENCIA HISTORY The Valencia guitar brand was created in Melbourne, Australia in 1972. Due to the substandard quality of beginner nylon string guitars available at the time, Valencia Guitars was established to provide student guitarists with quality, playable instruments at affordable prices. Valencia guitars were originally sourced from a number of factories in South Korea. Before long news of these exceptional guitars spread around Australia and in the space of a few short years became the biggest selling guitar in the country. In 1982 production of Valencia guitars was moved to the largest and best guitar manufacturing plant in the world at that time. This South Korean company manufactured Valencia exclusively for the next 7 years allowing Valencia to grow from being solely a beginner’s guitar into a guitar range covering beginner to intermediate players. Also during this time we expanded the product range to include acoustic, electric and bass guitars under the Valencia brand name. By 1989, the cost of manufacturing quality beginner to intermediate guitars in South Korea became so prohibitive that Valencia production was moved to two separate manufacturing facilities in Taiwan. At the time of this move a decision was made to take Valencia back to its roots and return solely to producing nylon string classical guitars. In late 1997, exhaustive research and testing found the manufacturing quality of guitars from some Chinese factories had improved significantly to the point of meeting Valencia’s stringent quality standards. It was determined at this time to move the production of Valencia to its third country of manufacture: China. By late 1998 production capacity in the factories manufacturing Valencia had grown to the point where it was decided to begin world-wide distribution. As a result, Valencia Guitars rapidly became available in over 84 countries around the world and are now distributed by many of the largest wholesalers in their respective markets. In August 2015 we commenced production of new Valencia models in our own, purpose built guitar manufacturing plant in Surabaya, Indonesia. This site was selected because of its proximity to ample supplies of tonewoods and because of the stable, temperate climate which is so ideal for manufacturing quality guitars. In July 2018, the construction of a new, state-of-the-art guitar manufacturing facility was begun within our Surabaya, factory complex. The new facility, with an anticipated completion date of July 2019, will effectively double the size of the existing factory complex. New machinery and production methods will deliver quality improvements and increase production capacity. The new plant will create many new job opportunities for local workers during construction and new manufacturing positions when fully operational. • Shade Tree Info – the Maples
Shade Tree Info – The Maples Acer rubrum is commonly known as Red Maple, or Swamp Maple. Varieties of Acer rubrum offered by Four Seasons include: ‘Autumn Flame’ – one of the first Red Maples to show fall color, Autumn Flame has smaller leaves than most other Red Maples. The branching habit is excellent and the rate of growth is medium. The bright medium-red fall color occurs about 2 weeks earlier than ‘Red Sunset.’ Height x width in 20 years = 30-35’ x 30-35’ ‘Red Sunset’ (A. r. “Franksred’)– has consistently been rated as one of the top 5 shade trees in America since it’s introduction in the mid 1960’s. The clean green leaves turn a fiery orange-red every fall and the symmetrical branching of ‘Red Sunset’ make for a great specimen tree. Height x width in 20 years = 35-40’ x 30-35’ ‘October Glory’ – is the last of the Red Maples to show fall color, with leaves turning deep red about 2 weeks after ‘Red Sunset.’ As with all the rubrum Maples we offer, excellent branching structure and bright light gray bark is a trademark of ‘October Glory.’ Height x width in 20 years = 35-40’ x 30-35’ General notes: Acer rubrum varieties prefer moist soils (remember, they are also known as Swamp Maple) and they require a soil pH below 7. Therefore, rubrum Maples are NOT a good choice for planting in parkways where their roots will wander into the limestone base of a street. But for open lawn areas, they are beautiful trees, and the color they reliably achieve each fall is intense.
