farah palmer cup SATURDAY, 9TH SEPTEMBER, LOGAN PARK 6 OTAGO SPIRIT TASMAN MAKOS v Logan Park 6 Kickoff: 3:00pm Referee: Blair Malcolm AR’s: Joel Hibbs & Andrew Clarkson The Otago Spirit welcome Tasman to Dunedin for their first home game of the 2017, Farah Palmer Cup Campaign when the two teams meet at Logan Park 6. This will be the first encounter between the two teams so expect a tense battle as the sides look for their first win of the season. Otago Spirit will enter the match confident they can come away with the desired result after putting in a spirited display against Canterbury in Round 1. Blockbusting outside back Kilistina Moata’ane moves from the wing to second five and will partner her Pirate team mate Greer Muir in the midfield. North Otago speedsters Cheyenne Cunningham and Catarina Antunes have been selected to start on the wings, if the girls are given any space, it could spell danger for the Tasman defence. Loose forwards Henderson, Mason and Sisifa were nothing short of fantastic against Canterbury, look for them to dominate the ruck where applicable. On the bench school sensations Gemma Millar and Isla Pringle are named and will make their debuts if and when they take the field, whilst outside back Saane Kaufanga, after an impressive club season is also in line to make her debut. Tasman, who pushed Waikato close last week will travel with belief they can leave Dunedin with a victory. Tasman dominated Waikato up front last week, so expect them to employ the same tactics this week against Otago. No.8 and captain Jess Foster was instrumental in leading her young forward pack around the field, look for her and front rower Kelly Couper to play a big part in getting Tasman front foot ball. In the backs winger Michele Curry brought some spice to the Tasman backline, expect her to get involved where possible. Looking forward to a huge match, make sure you get down and cheer on the Spirit! 3:00pm, Logan Park 6, Saturday 9th September Referee: Blair Malcolm AR’s: J. Hibbs & A.
