From products developed through these activities to the establishment of the GR Garage, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s motorsports activities have been promoted as a comprehensive method of increasing numbers of car fans. At last month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, we unveiled the new “Supra,” which is set to become the first global model in the GR series line-up. The new Supra incorporates the knowledge and know-how that TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has accumulated thus far, and has been developed with the goal of enabling customers to fully experience the joy of driving. We have positioned the new Supra as our flagship model and, by feeding back knowledge gained through motorsports activities into the development of new products, we intend to further expand the GR series line-up. In 2018, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing achieved the long-desired goal of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans and also secured the WRC manufacturers’ title, demonstrating that the challenges we have embarked on are leading to concrete results. However, we will not rest on our laurels. In order to deliver the anticipation and excitement of driving to a wider audience, we will engage in the motorsports activities listed below in 2019. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will compete in the 2019-2020 WEC season. (The driver line-up will be announced at a later date.)With team line-ups, we will also compete in the Nürburgring 24 Hours Endurance Race and other races in Japan respectively. -

PR Document 2020 Japanese Super Formula Championship Series Media Information August 27 2020 1 Super Formula : Then and Now In the 1950s, the Fédération Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA) launched the Drivers’ Championship to find the world’s fastest formula car drivers the purest form of racing machine. That ethos was passed on to all FIA national member organizations.Top-level formula motor racing has been held in Japan in various forms since 1973, when Formula 2000 was first launched. The competition evolved into Formula Two in 1978 and then Formula 3000 in 1987. Japan Race Promotion, Inc. (JRP) was established in 1995 and continued carrying the competition torch in 1996 under the name of Formula Nippon. In 2013, the name of the competition was changed again to Japanese Championship Super Formula and a bold plan was implemented to upgrade the race cars and lift the profile of the competition with the clear aim of spreading the appeal of Super Formula from Japan to other parts of Asia. Another hope was to turn the series into a third great open-wheel racing competition to go along with Formula One and IndyCar. The competition’s name was changed again in 2016 to Japanese Super Formula Championship. In 2017, BS Fuji began broadcasting live Super Formula races, giving many motorsport fans the chance to watch championship races on free-to-air television. In the early days, formula racing in Japan was led by top drivers such as Kunimitsu Takahashi, Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Satoru Nakajima, who later competed on the global stage in Formula One. -

MEDIA INFORMATION May 16, 2017 Japan Race Promotion Inc. Round 2 : May 27 (Saturday) – May 28 (Sunday) 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series: OKAYAMA Japan Race Promotion, Inc. (President: Akira Kurashita, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of Round 2 of the 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series, scheduled to take place on May 27–28 at the OKAYAMA International Circuit (length = 3.703km) in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Round 2 will feature an irregular two-race format, with a qualifying session and championship race on Saturday (Race 1) and another qualifying session and championship race on Sunday (Race 2). The format will give spectators the chance to see a qualifying and a race on both days. Race 1 and Race 2 will also be run under different formats. Saturday, May 27 will feature an official qualifying based on a 20-minute timed format, followed by a championship race of 30 laps (111.09 km). Race 2 on May 28 (Sunday) will feature an official qualifying based on a knock-out format. Q1 will last for 20 minutes and determines positions 11-19, and Q2 will last for 10 minutes and determines positions 1-10. Race 2 will be 51 laps (188.85 km). Drivers will receive only half the normal points in each race due to the 2 race format for the weekend, but an extra point will be given to drivers who secure pole position for each race. The opening round of the season at Suzuka was a pole-to-win victory for Kazuki Nakajima (VANTELIN TEAM TOM'S), who has been in excellent form since off-season testing. -

Toyota Motor Corporation Toyota Outlines Its Motorsports Activities for 2014 Toyota City, Japan, January 30, 2014—Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that its community-based motorsports activities through Lexus Racing and Toyota Racing—aimed to bring more joy to more people through automobiles—will continue in various locations around the world in 2014. Toyota views motorsports as an ideal medium for conveying the anticipation and excitement of driving cars, and through GAZOO Racing will strive to expand the reach of motorsports to attract a wide range of car enthusiasts. Toyota hopes to use these activities to hone its people, automobiles and technologies, and to use the experience and personal expertise to develop ever-better cars. Toyota’s 2014 motorsports activities will include participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and its legendary Le Mans 24-hour race, the NASCAR racing series and the Super GT and Super Formula championships. GAZOO Racing will help promote grass-roots motorsports by conducting GAZOO Racing “Waku Doki” circuit events and the GAZOO Racing 86/BRZ Race, and by supporting the TRD Rally Challenge and other races to increase opportunities for people to enjoy cars. It also plans to participate again in the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race. Toyota will continue to work with its affiliates around the world to promote activities for consumers to see, learn about and experience motorsports, thereby bringing the joy of cars to an even wider audience and contributing to car culture. MEDIA INFORMATION June 29, 2017 Japan Race Promotion Inc. Round 3 : July 8 (Saturday) –July 9 (Sunday) 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship: Fuji Speedway Japan Race Promotion Inc. (President: Akira Kurashita, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of Round 3 of the 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series, scheduled to take place on July 8–9 at Fuji Speedway (length = 4.563 km) in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Round 3 will feature an official qualifying session based on a knock-out format, followed by a championship race of 55 laps (250.965 km). Fuji Speedway has Japan’s longest back straight, making it the ideal spot to enjoy head-to-head battles. To achieve the highest possible speeds, race cars need to reduce downforce and drag, but the sequence of corners in the back half of the course means drivers want more downforce to negotiate turns. Teams that set up their race cars to skillfully balance that contradiction stand a good chance of victory. After Round 1 at Suzuka and the two races in Round 2 at Okayama, Andre Lotterer (VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S), Kazuki Nakajima (VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S) and Yuhi Sekiguchi (ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL) each have one win under their belts. Naoki Yamamoto (TEAM MUGEN) and Hiroaki Ishiura (P.MU/CERUMO · INGING) also gained points in all of the first three races. Those five drivers currently occupy the top positions in the standings. All of this year’s rookies have also grabbed points, including a podium finish at Okayama for Nick Cassidy (KONDO RACING), suggesting there is more to come from the new drivers in the second half of the SUPER FORMULA season. -

TOYOTA MOTORSPORTS NEWS November 10, 2006 TOYOTA Young Drivers Program Report (Sp.Edition) Public Affairs Division Toyota Motor Corporation TDP Driver Kazuki Nakajima Selected as Test Driver for Williams F1 Team for 2007 Kohei Hirate and Kamui Kobayashi to Participate in Panasonic Toyota Racing F1 Tests Kazuki Nakajima, who competed in the 2006 F3 Euro series, was selected as a test driver for the Williams F1 team, for the 2007 season. He also plans to participate on the DAMS team in the GP2 series, a category below F1. In addition, Kohei Hirate, who also competed in the F3 Euro series this year, plans to race in the GP2 series on the Trident team, starting in 2007. Kamui Kobayashi, winner of the rookie title in the 2006 F3 Euro series, plans to compete in the series for a second year as a part of the ASM Formula 3 team. Both Hirate and Kobayashi will be given opportunities to perform F1 tests for the Panasonic Toyota Racing team. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is conducting the Toyota Young Drivers Program (TDP) with the participation of promising young drivers to identify and cultivate new talent and support their continuous improvement. This program is aimed to foster drivers who hope to compete in top racing categories, both in Japan and throughout the world. The program will continue support the activities of participating drivers through a process of selection and improvement in each category in 2007. Reference: History of TDP The TDP was established in 2000 as a part of the Formula Toyota Racing School (FTRS), a hands-on racing school that TMC has been operating for some time in Japan, to discover and cultivate talented young drivers through scholarships.
