24 DECEMBER 2016 A publication of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio THE JEWISH JOURNAL SEE HOW FAR YOUR GELT GOES Giving Hanukkah gelt to childrenit’s one of our beloved Hanukkah traditions, along with lighting the menorah, eating latkes and playing dreidel. But there’s another Hanukkah tradition that we cherish: donating gelt as an act of tzedakah for those in need.

This year, as you set aside gelt for your own family, we ask that you think about setting aside a bit more for your Jewish community. Through the Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign, your gelt can make an impact in San Antonio, in Israel and around the globe; helping people who are truly in need of your gift.

To each of the hundreds of thousands of Jews being helped, your gelt is more than a holiday tradition. It is their security net. It is their means of survival.
