La caña de azúcar Saccharum officinarum (Poaceae) es uno de los cultivos más importantes en México; sin embargo, su producción se ve disminuida por las plagas que la atacan, principalmente Diatraea magnifactella. En busca de métodos alternativos para el control de barrenadores se han encontrado bacterias y hongos entomopatógenos, por lo cual se buscó determinar la CL50 de la cepa B-148 de B. thuringiensis y la cepa Ma156 de M. anisopliae sobre D. magnifactella, por medio de 2 bioensayos en laboratorio y su posterior análisis PROBIT. Se obtuvo una CL50 de 2322.612 ng/cm la cepa B-148 de B thuringiensis evaluada en hojas de caña y de 4381.394 ng/cm sobre hojas de maíz. Para la cepa Ma156 de M. anisopliae se 7 8 obtuvo una CL50 de 1.8359x10 conidios/ml en caña y de 2.0518 x10 conidios/ml en maíz. Heterorhabditis indica MOR03 was isolated from sugarcane soil in Morelos state, Mexico. The molecular identification of the nematode was confirmed using sequences of the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 region and the D2/D3 expansion segment of the 28S rRNA gene. In addition, two bacteria HIM3 and NA04 strains were isolated from the entomopathogenic nematode. The genomes of both bacteria were sequenced and assembled de novo. -

T. pretiosum se determinó en algodonero, chile serrano, col, girasol, maíz, naranjo, nogal, soya y tomate; T. fuentesi en muestras de maíz y nogal; en muestras de maíz a T. exiguum y T. deion; y T. atopovirilia en caña de azúcar. T. pretiosum fue encontrada en 19 de las 27 muestras revisadas, en contraste T. atopovirilia y T. exiguum se determi- naron en una muestra cada una. La determinación de T. deion y T. fuentesi en las muestras de maíz, PALABRAS CLAVE: Parasitoides, Trichogramma, se consideran como nuevos reportes para México. -

However, until now there are no records of the presence of EPN or their killing capacity in Yucatán state, southern México. The objectives of the current study were: (1) to report the entomopathogenic nematodes present in Yucatán soils and (2) to determine the killing capacity of the most frequent and abundant EPN against Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae and the microbial community developed by Ae. Aegypti exposed to this EPN. Methods: The nematodes were collected by the insect trap technique using the great wax moth Galleria mellonella. Internal transcribed spacer (ITS), 28S gene of Submitted 19 March 2021 ribosomal DNA and phylogenetic analyses were performed to identify the EPN. Identifcation authority (Summary) Fig. 4: Late instar, dorsal view Identification of D. considerata is difficult because of confusion with several sibling species. In some cases, a genus-level identification is more accurate. A species-level identification is possible if the larva is from certain portions of its known distribution, is associated with sugarcane and the morphology seems to fit. -

Modification of behavioral response inCopitarsia decolora (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) due to pre-exposure to sex pheromone and host plant volatiles Norma Robledo1, René Arzuffi1, and Humberto Reyes-Prado2,* Abstract In this study we assessed the effect of pre-exposure to host sex pheromones and plant volatiles on the response of virgin males and mated females of Copitarsia decolora (Guenée) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), by using glandular extracts of virgin females and host volatile extracts in bioassays conducted in a wind tunnel. Four-day-old insects, either virgin males pre-exposed to glandular extracts of the sex pheromone or mated females pre-exposed to host volatiles, were evaluated 2, 24, and 48 h after pre-exposure. In both sexes, pre-exposure and a subsequent attraction response at 2 h resulted in an inhibitory effect on the olfactory response. Recovery in the olfactory response was observed at 24 and 48 h; however, it took males a shorter activation time when compared with control insects. A brief pre-exposure of insects provoked a short-term (2 h) inhibition of the response to the olfactory stimulus. Consequently, as an integral part of strategies for the management of this pest species, the study of the ecological implications of such inhibition should be considered. C.P. 76230, Querétaro, Mexico Abstract: Problem statement: The arthropods have a very important role in the arid zones due to their interactions with many organism and because they constituted an important element in the structure of the plant community. Nevertheless their importance there are few knowledge about the community of arthropods associated to vegetation in arid zones in the North of Mexico. The present study had the objective of determining the abundance, richness and diversity of arthropods in three localities where there are natural populations of mescal agave in the State of Durango, Mexico. Approach: In order to know the structure community of the arthropods associated to the mescal agave, we perform a sampling schedule during March 2008 to November 2010 by direct collection, using transects in three different localities with the presence of mescal agave. The relative abundance, species richness, Shannon’s diversity index, Pielou’s Index of evenness, Jaccard’s similitude and Simpson’s dominance indexes were determined.
