{ to,26?5 THE ORGAN WORKS OF HEALEY WILLAN THESIS Presented to the Graduate Council of the North Texas State College in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements For the Degree of Master of Music By Robert L. Massingham, B. S., M. S. Denton, Texas August, 1957 PREFACE LHealey Willan occupies an unique position in Canadian Music and can be considered as that nation's "elder musical statesman." At the time of writing he is a septuagenarian and still very much active in his profession. Born and trained in England, he was well-established there when he was persuaded to come to Toronto, Canada, in 1913 at the age of thirty-three. Since that time he has contributed enor- iously to the growth of music in his adopted country, carry- ing on the traditions of his fine English background in music while encouraging the development of native individuality in Canadian music. Iillan has been first and foremost a musician of the church--an organist and choirmaster--a proud field which can boast many an eminent name in music including that of J. S. Bach. Willan's creativity in music has flowered in many other directions--as a distinguished teacher, as a lecturer and recitalist, and as a composer. He has written in all forms and for all instruments, but his greatest renown, at any rate in the TUnited States, is for his organ and choral works. The latter constitute his largest single body of compositions by numerical count of titles, and his organ works are in a close second place. iii Willants Introduction, Passaqaglia, and Fuue has been well-known for decades as one of the finest compositions in organ literature, enjoying a position alongside the organ works of Liszt, Yranck, and Reubke.

  • Bachs Kantater for Hele Kirkeåret

Č KALENDÁR VÝROČÍ 2010 H U D B A Zostavila Mgr. Dana Drličková Bratislava 2009 Pouţité skratky: n. = narodil sa u. = umrel výr.n. = výročie narodenia výr.ú. = výročie úmrtia 3 Ú v o d 6.9.2007 oznámili svetové agentúry, ţe zomrel Luciano Pavarotti. A hudobný svet stŕpol… V predkladanom Kalendári výročí uţ tradične upozorňujeme na výročia narodenia či úmrtia hudobných osobností : hudobných skladateľov, dirigentov, interprétov, teoretikov, pedagógov, muzikológov, nástrojárov, folkloristov a ďalších.

Danish Lutheran Churches in America: Contributions of the United (Danish) Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1896-1960 by Edward A. Hansen The most noteworthy contribution of the UELC was its people. The laity and clergy of this church brought a willingness to change their old ethnic ways in order to convey their faith, their energy, and their insights to the broader body of Lutherans in America. The Situation in the UDELC at the close of World War II The United Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church was formed in 1896 by a merger of two Danish immigrant groups. One group, the "Blair Synod" had been excluded from the Danish Lutherans organized in America in 1872, in a controversy mainly involving the Bible as the Word of God. The second group, the "North Church," had been organized in 1884 by Danish members of the Norwegian Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church (founded in 1870).

  • Music and Bell Ringing Catalog
Catalog of Music and Bell Ringing for the Chime Master VERSION 3.0 www.ChimeMaster.com Selections Catalog This catalog is provided as a supplement to the Chime Master System Millennium manual. It contains lists of frequently used bell ringing functions as well as specific music selection numbers. Should you need additional instruction, please refer to the Overview and Scheduling Automatic Performances sections of the operating manual. Typically you will only need to enter selection numbers when editing your program schedule, programming function buttons or using the Play Selections menu for special occasions. We highly recommend using random music groups for your weekly program schedule. This both saves you time and the community will always have a great variety of music to enjoy. Entering Selections New selections may be entered over the existing program selections. Entering all zeros for a selection will delete it. In the Setup Function Button menu, and the Play Selections menu, if only one selection is entered, 001 Time(s) will be displayed allowing you to repeat the selection up to 199 times. These repeats are usually used to program the number of strikes of a toll. On Screen Title Lookup Whenever a four digit number is flashing on the editing display, and you don’t remember the number for your favorite selection, press the [NO] cursor down button (as in “No, I don’t know what number I want"). This will bring up the Title Lookup Screen which is subdivided into four groups: User Recordings Titles of recordings that have been recorded by you. Any untitled selections will be displayed as untitled nnnn with its catalog number.
