We are committed to supporting the ministry of both men and women equally in leadership roles throughout our congregation. We ordain both men and woman as full time ministers and deacons, as God leads them and our church. We are committed to mission in word and action. We seek to be in ministry with our community and our world through evangelism—sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, and outreach—seeking to address the spiritual and physical needs of others for community transformation. We are committed to be in ministry to and with our immediate neighbors, including Texas Christian University students, faculty and staff. We are committed to being congregational in our organizational structure. The deacons of UBC are a service body ministering to the church and community. Area household concerns which are likely to exceed the national average – finding a good church, finding spiritual teaching, achieving educational objectives, and achieving a fulfilling marriage. Since its beginning in 1929, University Baptist Church (UBC) has been focused on carrying out the Great Commission. 1929 marked the beginning of the Great Depression and the year UBC’s charter members decided the Texas Christian University (TCU) area needed an evangelical witness. This holds true today. Consequently, the church continues to identify itself as University Baptist Church. Church growth has ebbed and flowed throughout an 86-year-old ministry. At present, University Baptist Church is in a transitional phase due to the retirement of Dr. Mark Woods at the end of December 2014. Three UBC Heritage videos, located on our website, ubcforworth.org, provide more information on our former pastors and historical development as a church. While our past is a part of who we are, our future is more important. It is what we will become. God placed UBC in this location to build a Christian community transforming people with Christ’s love, and we seek God’s chosen pastoral leader to encourage and direct us in that purpose.
