Conglomerate from Setia Jasa Near Temerloh, Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia: Its Stratigraphic Position and Depositional Environment
Geological Society of Malaysia Annual Geological Conference 2001 June 2-3 2001, Pangkor island, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia Conglomerate from Setia Jasa near Temerloh, Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia: Its stratigraphic position and depositional environment MoHo SHAFEEA LEMAN1 AND MASATOSHI SoNE2·* 1Geology Programme, School of Environmental Science and Natural Resources, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia 2lnstitute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia 'Present address: Asia Centre, University of New England, Armidale, NSW 2351, Australia Abstract: A thick sequence of conglomerate, tuffaceous sandstone and shale/mudstone largely exposed at the Setia Jasa area is described. The matrix-supported conglomerate of very well rounded clasts conformably overlies pebbly mudstone and shows a gradual change in matrix grain size from clay to sand. An Anisian (early Middle Triassic) age is indicated for a whole sequence by the presence of an ammonoid Paraceratites sp. found in a lower shale bed. Sedimentological features suggest that the conglomerate and underlying sandstone/shale sequences were possibly deposited in a relatively deep marine environment, and probably belong to the Semantan Formation. -
Spatial Management Plan
6 -1 CHAPTER 6 SPATIAL MANAGEMENT PLAN The Spatial Management Plan is a basic framework that drives the translation of national strategic directions to the state level. The Spatial Management Plan consist of aspects related to spatial Three (3) Types of State Spatial availability (land use and transportation), growth areas (Conurbation, Management Plan Promoted Development Zone, Catalyst Centre and Agropolitan Centre), settlement hierarchies, resource management (forest, water, food, Spatial Growth Framework energy source and other natural resources) and disaster risk areas 1 Plan (tsunami, flood, landslide, coastal erosion and rise in sea level). Resource Management Plan A Spatial Management Plan at the state level is prepared to translate 2 national strategic directions to the state level (all states in Peninsular Natural Disaster Risk Area Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan Federal Territory) especially for strategic 3 Management Plan directions that have direct implications on a spatial aspect such as: . 1. Growth and development of cities as well as rural areas that is balanced and integrated (PD1 and PD 2); 2. Connectivity and access that is enhanced and sustainable (PD3); 3. Sustainable management of natural resources, food resources and State Spatial Management Plan heritage resources (KD1); involve the following states: 4. Management of risk areas (KD2); 5. Low carbon cities and sustainable infrastructure (KD3); and 1. Perlis pp. 6 - 8 6. Inclusive community development (KI1, KI2 and KI3). 2. Kedah pp. 6 - 14 3. Do Business Graduates' Attributes Fulfill Industry Requirements And
Australian Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 5(9): 68-74, 2011 ISSN 1991-8178 Do Business Graduates’ Attributes Fulfill Industry Requirements and Expectations? 1Salina Daud, 2Noraina Mazuin Sapuan, 3Nurazariah Abidin and 4Jegatheesan Rajadurai 1,2,3Universiti Tenaga Nasional, College of Business Management and Accounting Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus, Bandar Muadzam Shah, Pahang, Malaysia 4IKIP International College, Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia Abstract: Employers complain that graduates from Higher Education Institutions do not meet their expectations in today’s volatile economic environment and urge them to produce employable graduates who are able to compete and contribute to the current market. This study examines the perceived gap between important dimensions of graduate attributes and the actual performance of these graduates once employed. The study was carried out in two phases, namely Phase 1 which involved a focus group session and Phase 2 which focused on establishing a questionnaire appropriate for the study across a diverse range of industries. The questionnaires were distributed to managers selected from a list provided by the Higher Education Institution Alumni Centre. Graduates’ attributes were analyzed in terms of their knowledge, skills, abilities and personality. The results of this study indicate that managers attach different weightings to different aspects of the graduates’ performance and that the Higher Education Institution should target the improvement of soft skills and the development of specific personality components such as openness and extroversion personalities when developing their curriculum. The study highlights the practicality of importance-performance analysis as a means of assessing and directing ongoing human capital development efforts within the higher education sector. -

The Nature of Permian-Triassic Junction in the Rock Sequence in Central Pahang
99 The nature of Permian-Triassic junction in the rock sequence in central Pahang AllMAn JANTAN, UyOp SAID AND MOHAMAD Mn TAN Geology Department, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia 43600 UKM Bangi, Selangor D.E. Established Permian rocks in the areas of central Jengka Triangle from Gunung Senyum to Kampung Awah, and in the areas to the south from Teriang to Bt. Bertangga in Central Pahang are the widespread intermediate volcanic rocks of andesitic composition and the localised limestone at Gunung Senyum and Kampung Awah. And established Triassic rocks within the same areas are the shales, turbiditic sandstones and conglomerates, with localised limestone lenses of the Semantan Formation. The andesitic rocks, being intermediate in composition and rich in mafic minerals, have mostly been weathered to reddish brown clay soil. Limited exposure of fresh andesite can however be observed at the JKR quarry at Kampung Awah. Large andesite boulders excavated out from reddish brown soil can be seen at a development site near Kota Gelanggi to the northeast of the Jengka Triangle. And small andesite blocks can be seen in dark reddish brown soil along the main Felda Jengka road from Kg. S. Jerik to Bandar Pusat Jengka. Rocks of the Semantan Formation exposed at road cuts have mostly undergone weathering into soil. Weathered shales are yellowish brown, yellowish red to reddish brown in colour and can be seen at road cuts along Mentakab-Temerloh by-pass road and at several localities along Temerloh-Maran road. It may occasionally be difficult to be sure of whether a soil is weathered andesite or weathered shales. -
