  • North Wales Wind Farms Connection
North Wales Wind Farms Connection Welcome to our Exhibition Who is SP Manweb? SP Manweb holds the electricity distribution licence for Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales. It is part of ScottishPower, itself a subsidiary of the Spanish company Iberdrola. Background to the Project The UK faces a major challenge with increasing demands for energy at a time when ageing power plants are closing and there is an urgent need to tackle climate change by reducing emissions. To meet this challenge, the Welsh Government is seeking to cut emissions and increase new low carbon energy generation. The new energy will need connecting into the high-voltage electricity transmission network. It is SP Manweb’s responsibility to do this in a safe, reliable and efficient way. This includes ensuring that the network has enough capacity to move electricity across the system from areas of generation to areas of demand, connecting new electricity generators such as wind farms to the distribution networks. Work in North Wales North Wales has been identified as an important location for renewable energy generation. There are a number of developers who are proposing to build wind farms in the area and SP Manweb is working closely with them. The proposed wind farms are concentrated in and around TAN8 Area A – one of the seven areas identified in Tan 8 Areas the Welsh Government’s Technical Advice Note (TAN) 8: Planning for Renewable Energy, as being relatively unconstrained and capable of accommodating large scale wind power developments. TAN 8 suggests that Area A could have an indicative generating capacity of 140 MW.

OSWALD ROAD, OSWESTRY, 1878. PREFACE F all the works which have been written relating to the general or family history O of North Wales, none have been for centuries more esteemed than the History of the Gwydir Family. The Hon. Daines Barrington, in his preface to his first edition of the work, published in 1770, has well said, "The MS. hath, for above.a cent~ry, been so prized in North Wales, that many in those parts have thought it worth while to make fair and complete transcripts of it." Of these transcripts the earliest known to exist is one in the Library at Brogyntyn. It was probably written within 45 years of the death of the author; but besides that, it contains a great number of notes and additions of nearly the same date, which have never yet appeared in print. The History of the Gwydir Family has been thrice published. The first editiun, edited by the Hon. Daines Barrington, issued from the press in 1770. The second was published in Mr.

  • Innogy UK Leads the Way in Green Hydrogen Research at Swansea University
Press Release innogy UK leads the way in green hydrogen research at Swansea University · innogy UK has funded a Masters by Research at Swansea University’s ESRI department · Feasibility study to be carried out on the economic viability of hydrogen from onshore wind · innovative technology is needed to get Wales to net zero carbon by 2050 South Wales, October 2019 Innogy Renewable UK Ltd. is funding innovative research at Swansea University and investing in a Masters by Research at the Department for Engineering Science and Research Institute. This will specifically look at whether it is economically viable to generate green hydrogen from onshore wind. This will be the first of its kind for Swansea University. Charles Dunhill from Swansea University said “We are thrilled to be collaborating with innogy on this Masters by Research. Hydrogen is set to play a major part in Wales’ transition to a zero-carbon future and Swansea is well placed to benefit. It’s in our interest to really lead the way.” Jeremy Smith, Head of Development Strategy for Onshore Wind at innogy UK said: “We are excited to see this Masters commence. Green hydrogen is a clean energy carrier and can play a key role in Wales’ transition to a low carbon economy. It can offer the option for long duration energy storage which in turn can help with any intermittencies renewable energy projects can create. Green hydrogen could really help balance grid whilst at the same time help decarbonise our heat and transport systems.” innogy is already the largest renewable energy operator in Wales and generates one third of all of the country‘s renewable electricity.

  • Llansannan the Parish of Llansannan Is the Largest of the Four
Llansannan The Parish of Llansannan is the largest of the four parishes included in this Cynefin project, and comprises two main villages, Llansannan and Groes, in addition it has a number of smaller hamlets, eg. Bylchau, Bryn Rhydyrarian, Tanyfron and Clwt. It also used to have a number of smaller communities with the chapel as their focal point of interaction, Penycefn, Rhiw and Nantwnen to name only three. Moving on in time, Llansannan as a rural village was dependent on, and served the farming community, it was certainly self sufficient, in that it catered for all the farmers and housewives needs and mostly their wants. There were a number of shops, a leather worker, a butcher or two, a couple of builders and joiners for making furniture and carts. It had a Post Office and three taverns. For their spiritual needs it has a church and three nonconformist chapels, with numerous cultural activities throughout the winter months. The medieval church is dedicated to Saint Sannan the founder of the Church here in the seventh Century. Originally an Irish Saint and bishop, a friend of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, and a companion of Saint Winifred’s father, and is said to have lived in religious seclusion, and buried at Gwytherin. The present church was built in the thirteenth century, and partly re-built in 1778. In 1879 the church was extensively restored at a cost of £1000. It has three Nonconformist chapels in the village, with the first being built in 1811 by the Methodist, the Baptist built in 1828 and the Independents in 1831.
