Email: [email protected] Abstract Aim: The prevalence rate of blindness in India is 1.1%, the most important cause for blindness in aged people is cataract .The present study was conducted to find out the prevalence, barriers and facilitating factors related to cataract in ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Santhnagar, Telangana state. Methods: The study was carried out in Telangana state over a period of 6months July 2016to December 2016. All adults of more than 45 years (n = 1000) were examined for lenticular opacity and visual acuity. A structured proforma was used to assess the cataract in aged people above 45years. Results: Prevalence and risk factors of cataract in Telangana state. As age increases the incidence of cataract increases in persons above 45years. Conclusion: Prevalence and risk factors of cataract in Telangana state. It is important to increase the awareness programees regarding the availability of cataract health services. ABOUT US: The School Education Department is the largest department consisting of Primary and Secondary stages, assumes greater significance and aims at imparting minimum and essential general education to all the children in the age group of 6-15 years and to equip them with necessary competencies to shape them as useful and productive citizens. Andhra Pradesh has adopted the national pattern of education i.e. 10+2+3. National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, Pusa Campus, New Delhi 110012, India Abstract To salvage and conserve the current spectrum of landrace diversity in different agri- horticultural crops from the district of Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh, India, 14 special agri- biodiversity surveys were undertaken during 2010–12. In these surveys, a Luffa species having small, elliptical, and cluster bearing fruits was seen being cultivated in the backyards of the tribal farmers in 10 mandals of Adilabad district. Close observation of the plants and fruit samples in-situ and characterization for 24 qualitative and 13 quantitative traits, especially the nature of fl owering and fruiting, during fi eld evaluation at National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR) Regional Station, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad confi rmed the plant species as Luffa hermaphrodita Singh & Bhandari, popularly known as satputiya. The satputiyas traditionally occur in the Indo-Gangetic plains and the cultivation of this species in Adilabad district is the fi rst report of its distribution in South India. India is one of the twelve centers/regions in several crop species and their wild of diversity of crop plants in the world progenitors in this region. -
