Welcome to both of them. It’s great to have new members on board with fresh ideas. We still have one more vacancy on the general committee if anyone is interested. Merv Jackson is now our treasurer and Russell Byrne is now Vice President. We all thank Graham Silvy very much for the great job he did with the treasury whilst he was with us and we wish him all the very best with his and his family’s future. A big thank you also to the outgoing committee members, Helen Whelan and Jenny Englehardt. Our dear ex President John Turner has been very much on the sick list having had major heart surgery. We pray he will very soon be on the mend. My dear Mum-in-law Myra Smith, who is a member of our club has also been in the wards having had a couple of falls, (I’m going to have to hide her bottle, HA, HA!). It’s not been a very good season for many of our members, health wise. I nearly forgot to mention that at our A.G.M. Russell and Rhonda Byrne were voted by members to receive the club Merit Award and Ian Fisk was presented with the club Industry Award. They all very much deserve these awards. Well bye for now, Thanks God for Country Music. Di Smith (President) There are two kinds of people in the world. Those that do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group, there’s less competition. Carole Sturtzel always performs well and of course Chooka Williams is always popular. Our September show was very good with Allan Webster the Country Gentlemen. I believe Allan has one of the best country voices in Sth. Australia, he is also a very friendly funny man. His little jokes along the way were quite amusing. Thanks Allan and band for a lovely day. I hope all the dads enjoyed their time at the club. Special guests artists Lee Brocky and Ben Furnell also entertained us. Lee has Ben and Lee the band Outback Overdrive. The date is Wednesday 12 December and to say I’m extremely excited would be a gross understatement. As we get closer to the evening itself, the extent of the amount of work that the Board does to put this occasion into place is evidenced by many sleepless nights and crowded days. The preparation for the event requires huge amounts of time and dedication, but the end result is always well worth it. Those of you who are attending this time around are in for a treat. It looks to be the biggest year ever for the ASA, with tickets now SOLD OUT . If you haven’t as yet experienced the night, I can only urge you to check out our website to have a look at Awards past and plan on coming along next year.
