Rawalpindi, one of the oldest public limited companies of the sub-continent in 1997. Joined Board of Directors of the company in 1998. Before this he has significant exposure to fields operation including production, project development, development planning, conceptual engineering and operation supports in the brewery and its other divisions. Holds a Master Degree in Business & Administration. Ex-Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan on seat reserved for Minorities (2013-2018). Currently President of Rawalpindi Parsi Anjuman. MURREE BREWERY COMPANY NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2008 1 THE COMPANY AND ITS OPERATIONS Murree Brewery Company Limited ("the Company") was incorporated under the repealed Indian Companies Act (now the Companies Ordinance, 1984) in February 1861 as a public limited Company in Pakistan. The shares of the Company are listed on the Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad Stock Exchanges. The registered office of the Company is situated in Rawalpindi. The Company is principally engaged in the manufacturing of alcoholic beer, non alcoholic beer, Pakistan Made Foreign Liquor (P.M.F.L), juices in Tetra packs in Rawalpindi and food products, juices, glass bottles and jars in Hattar. The Company is presently operating three divisions to carry out its principal activities namely Liquor Division, Tops Division and Glass Division. 2 BASIS OF PREPARATION 2.1 Statement of compliance These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the approved accounting standards as applicable in Pakistan. Approved accounting standards comprise of such International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) issued by the International Accounting Standard Board as are notified under the Companies Ordinance, 1984, provisions of and directives issued under the Companies Ordinance, 1984. In case requirements differ, the provisions or directives of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 shall prevail. 2.2 Accounting convention and basis of measurement These financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention except that certain components of property, plant and equipment have been stated at revalued amounts, investments at fair value through profit or loss have been measured at fair market value and obligations under certain staff retirement benefits have been measured at present value.
