Night will be held on Monday 2nd March with 30 prizes to be drawn with a prize pool of more than $5,000 RRP.

The New Year’s Eve celebration attracted 160 members and guests who thoroughly enjoyed the musical talent of Maurice Milani and his band. The combination of the Band, venue and delicious four course meal ensured the evening was a resounding success enjoyed by all present. Regular visitors to the club wanted it known that this was the best New Year’s Eve celebration ever at the club in every respect and thanked the staff for their efforts on the night.

Golf participation has been very high over the Christmas / New Year period for golfers enjoying one of the very best courses in the area. We are fortunate to Pictured (above): have a good supply of water but like other facilities it is limited and we continue President, Kim Gray to monitor our groundwater usage and do hope that we receive good autumn rainfalls. Failing that we may need to enter into a program of reduced water usage.

The Croquet players now have their storage shed installed which now provides a secure and waterproof structure for their valuable equipment and more importantly a place to seek refuge during either very hot or wet conditions. The club has also submitted a request for government funding for the provision of shelter proposed for the front area of the shed. In view of the bushfire crisis we are not sure if the funding will be forthcoming.

At our VIP Dinner in December, recipients of the Hilton Nicholas Foundation Scholarships were awarded to Fergus Monaghan, Robbie Bailey, Toby Hoskin, Harrison Just, Beau Davis, Ned Gray, Fergus Cochrane, Bella Shanahan, Oliver Nelson and Ethan Sorensen. We look forward to the continuing development of these young golfers via the Foundation. Hilton Nicholas’ wife, Marjorie was on hand to present the Scholarships. Hilton was passionate about junior golf and wanted to leave a legacy for the development of juniors at Howlong.

Until next month, keep safe, stay hydrated and enjoy our facilities.

MEET BELLA PROBUS

Happy New Year Everyone! We are off and running again and it would be a great time to come along and check us out. Meetings are on the second Monday of the month, starting at 10am in the River Gum room of the Howlong Resort.

Probus is not a Service Club. It was set up by Rotary for the fun and fellowship missed by retirees. It is an entirely a self-funded Social Club to help us get together and enjoy ourselves. We usually have a guest speaker then most of us stay for a social lunch at Fairways Bistro. The only Pictured (above): Bella Shanahan at the commitment is to have fun and attend 50% of our presentation of the inaugural meetings.
