Much of Unity classic literature was written in a time when there was greater emphasis on the male gender. This is no longer an acceptable way to communicate.

- Clarity was needed! Because language has changed so much over time, clas- sic Unity texts might sometimes seem as if they convey some traditionally held Christian ideas, but if one reads carefully, there are many untraditional notions. Oneness language clears up any misperceptions in this area.

- The human mind is a creature of habit. Using a different type of language helps shift our thinking in the direction of upholding a consciousness of One- ness.

- Some of those new to Unity were wounded by their church of origin, and cer- tain phrases can trigger old hurts. Oneness language has the potential to heal!
