Home Sweet Home Idaho was the last team in the Western Athletic Conference to play its home opener this year. The Vandals opened the season with seven consecutive away games - the longest such stretch to start a season in Idaho school history. The previous long was the 2000 squad, which played its first six matches on the road. With 213 career stops to her name, Boyden can move into third all-time at Idaho with seven more. Lindsay Smith Goals Against Average (2002-05) holds the school record with 302 saves. Liz Boyden 1.57 9th Saves Preseason Coaches’ Poll Liz Boyden 30 T-5th The league’s coaches picked Idaho to finish seventh in the Western Athletic Conference Save Percentage in 2010. The Vandals earned 28 points in the poll, just behind Hawai`i, which was picked Liz Boyden .750 T-6th sixth with 30 points. Shutouts Liz Boyden 1 T-6th Preseason All-Conference Sophomore Chelsea Small was selected by the league’s coaches as a preseason all-WAC WAC Single-Game Highs pick on Aug. 10. Small is the first player in Idaho history to be so honored. She was also (Category) Player Totals Rank the first Vandal to garner first-team all-WAC and WAC Freshman of the Year honors last Points season in 2009. Chelsea Small 10 (vs. Nevada) 1st Saves Liz Boyden 10 (at Louisiana Tech) T-2nd Vandal Notes A Strong Impression After an open tryout during preseason practice, sophomore Estefania Mondragon and freshman Kora Barnes impressed enough to earn roster spots as walk-ons for the 2010 season. Mondragon (Nampa, Idaho/Skyview HS) is a midfielder, while Barnes (Helena, Mont./Capital HS) is a defender.

Standing Tall In 2009, Idaho beat Idaho State, 2-1 at the Governor’s Cup Tournament, and then beat Boise State, 3-1 in WAC play. The wins marked the first time in Idaho soccer history that the team beat both in-state rivals in the same year. The Vandals went undefeated in the rivalry in 2002 and 2003 with 1-0-1 records against the state each year.
