Participants develop body technique, skills with rhythmic movements and learn to handle hand apparatus such as a ball, hoop, ribbon, rope and clubs. The Advanced Level demands a higher level of skill. This is suitable for those with a higher degree of flexibility and previous gymnastics experience. Our Select Program requires a greater time commitment from both gymnasts and parents. Gymnasts previously in the advanced program may enter the select program with the coach’s recommendation. Those with a real ability for the sport can be tested to enter this level. With ambition and skill, a gymnast can try out for Pan Am Games, Common Wealth Games, World Cups, World Championships and future Olympics. Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) – Programs available for all ages from children to adult including our work team “Rhythmic Expressions”. They are currently ranked 6th in the world, and recently returned from the World Championships in Spain with a trophy for the Best Choreography. This level offers gymnasts an opportunity to travel, compete and interact with athletes from around the world. Competitive and Pre-Competitive – For children interested in high-level performance, specialized Rhythmic Gymnastics training and individuals who really wish to advance to top levels of the sport. Kalev offers training with high caliber international coaches who have an academic background in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Gymnasts are entered in Regional, National and International competitions. This program is individualized and requires the athlete to be tested before their training schedule can be determined. Kalev gymnasts currently hold the National Junior and Senior Group Champion titles, as well as the National Junior Individual Champion title. Cancellations and Make-Up Classes • All gyms will be closed for March Break and Statutory Holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Good Friday, Easter and Victoria Day. • Special arrangements may occasionally be made with your coach for training during these days. KALEV ESTIENNE RHYTHMIC GYMNASTIC CENTRES ЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖ • Some of our programs are run in school gyms with permits from the Board of Education. From time to time the Board cancels these permits for certain dates with very short notice. Coaches will notify all gymnasts and parents to have these classes rescheduled or made up at another Kalev location. Uniforms and Equipment All athletes are required to wear either black sleeveless leotards with black tights, or black tank tops with black shorts. These are available at all dance shops. The uniform is not required for the first class (shorts and t-shirt will do) but they must be purchased shortly after. Rhythmic Gymnastics apparatus are purchased through the club. Your coach will advise you what items are needed to help coordinate colours. Performances Every year Kalev Estienne has a showcase of all our athletes’ achievements, which are held in theatre facilities. This year-end show allows all athletes (recreational, performance and competitive) to demonstrate the skills that they have learned throughout the year. The coaches will also arrange two parents’ nights. One performance is held during winter holiday season and the other at the end of the year. Our athletes also perform at various local events and festivals. Fundraising In spite of the fact that our sport, like most others, has been affected by government cutbacks and is no longer funded, our fees are still kept at a reasonable level. There is, however a need for ongoing fundraising efforts to help offset the costs of updating and maintaining our training centres. Our main fundraising event is the annual Spring Show, to which we hope all gymnasts sell at least 4 tickets each. Bring parents, grandparents, cousins, neighbours, classmates, friends and anyone else you can think of! Fundraising allows us to showcase the routines that we have worked so hard on and is an excellent opportunity to increase your child’s confidence and ultimately broaden their performance skills through interaction with the public. Camps During school breaks, Kalev offers training camps at our own centres. Information will be available to you through the coach. Safety Rules It is important for all gymnasts to follow the following safety rules which include; - Either bare feet or toe slippers for training; socks can be too slippery - No gum as it can be inhaled during exercise - Hair is to be kept back from the face and neck in a ponytail or bun - Minimal jewelry to be worn during practice to prevent choking hazards - Please leave all valuables at home so they do not get lost Other Rules KALEV ESTIENNE RHYTHMIC GYMNASTIC CENTRES ЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖ
