A recurrent fixture on the ‘Best Places to live in the UK’, York is home to families, young professionals, downsizers and, indeed, upsizers. With an abundance of history jostling for attention, from the black-and-white timbers of the Shambles, lined with boutiques and souvenir shops, to the majestic presence of the iconic Minster makes York a truly aspirational place to live. Hidden gems offer unique experiences around every corner and the array of evening activities make it more than just a day out shopping. The city comes alive as dusk settles, the transformation helped by up and coming taprooms, artisan cocktail bars and impressive restaurants that line the cobbled backstreets – the Rattle Owl, Skosh and Le Cochon attract even the most discerning of tastes. With an impressive array of restaurants and bars we cannot forget to mention the national and internationally renowned attractions – tourism underpins York’s diverse cultural allure attracting over 7 million visitors each year to the likes of York Minster, Clifford’s Tower, the National Railway Museum. Topped off with some of the greatest markets and perhaps the best Christmas market in the UK. York’s high speed transport links also make it a popular location for businesses and home owners alike, with London, Manchester and Edinburgh all within 2 hours helping you stay connected. "Hidden gems offer unique experiences" 8 9 PICCADILLY RIVERSIDE APARTMENTS A LIFESTYLE CHOICE YOUR HOME "Piccadilly living" Piccadilly was named after its grand London counterpart once home to 20th century timber, builders’ and coal merchants and sawmills. Modern day, it’s resolutely urban and oh so central – it’s within the ancient city walls yet this hushed set back development feels like a hidden corner of York, making this iconic YO1 postcode so attractive. Sitting in a prime city centre location, on the banks of the River Foss within the Central Historic Core, this riverside neighbourhood combines modern cool with ancient charisma to such good effect, opposite dramatic and iconic medieval monuments. Piccadilly’s surrounding locality is an enigmatic mix: hip and now, with warehouses, Crittall windows and loft apartments, yet oozing old York character, thanks to ancient churches and centuries-old pubs. Walmgate, just a stone’s throw away, offers a vibrant setting with plenty of opportunity to eat and drink at some of York’s best restaurants and bars. 10 11 PICCADILLY RIVERSIDE APARTMENTS A LIFESTYLE CHOICE 8 6 11 7 5 10 9 4 3 12 YOUR LOCATION 1 2 1 Clifford’s Tower 7 York Theatre Royal 2 York Castle Museum 8 York St John University 3 Coppergate Shopping Centre 9 York Train Station 4 Shambles 10 National Railway Museum 5 Stonegate 11 York Art Gallery 6 York Minster 12 Jorvik Museum 12 13 PICCADILLY RIVERSIDE APARTMENTS A LIFESTYLE CHOICE "Meet your designer" KATE MOONEY Here at OCCA studio we work across design concept. A chance to work with a hotel developer to create something aligned with their branded hotels was a unique opportunity to show what Igalari can do in a different setting and market. The Kitchens are bespoke and come direct from the Composit © factory in Italy. The finishes compliment the clean lines and ceiling details that were meticulously worked-up by Kate and her team at OCCA design. The concrete effect cabinets, mixed with premium quartz tops give a tactile, premium and durable finish. The dark veins in the quartz are especially on trend but also timeless and have come full circle in fashion. Small technical details such as titanium runners rather than steel really finish this stylish kitchen off. Miele appliances speak for themselves, exuding quality and reliability. The bathrooms are hotel quality and finishing – the design intent here was always to create something clean and simple but timeless. Quality fittings and Italian design sanitary ware are a fantastic way to adorn such a contemporary space. Composit © is a IS 9001 certified company. The particle board panels are IDROPAN water-repellent panels in V100 class with the lowest formaldehyde emission in the world; Adhesives and paints are nontoxic; All the elements passed through tests of reliability and safety. This private gated development is set back from the main Piccadilly highway to the rear of the brand new Hilton hotel. Entering through a restricted access gate into this private, highly landscaped and well lit development gives you a true sense of arrival and exclusivity. Private covered parking and secure access through the jewel like, fully glazed entrance lit by the perpetual blossom of the Moooi pendant lighting adds to the premium ‘check-in’ feel. Our desire to bring hotel-living to this bespoke development has been pivotal in the creation of this superlative residential development. All apartments have wonderfully spacious inset balconies so you can enjoy the historic vistas. If the weather is too cold you can still enjoy the views of Clifford’s Tower through the floor to ceiling panoramic window/doors that also allow plenty of natural light in to illuminate your living space. "RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT TO WORLD CLASS HOTEL STANDARDS" Aspect as you enter into this private, highly landscaped and well lit development.Ellen Wild A fully glazed entrance lights up like a jewel in the evening, guiding you or your guests into a world of understated luxury. 18 19 PICCADILLY RIVERSIDE APARTMENTS A LIFESTYLE CHOICE Add lighting details, landscape detail, safety & External Design Concept LANDSCAPE DESIGN From the moment you enter the private gates you are pleasantly guided by the soft lighting. An array of low level lighting coupled with technical lighting creates shapes and textures that help define and accentuate the soft landscape features that truly distinguish and differentiate the apartments from the hotel. We appreciate outside space is a rarity in a city centre location so we have embraced the outdoors so you can make the most of it. The soft landscaping ‘wraps’ around the apartment footprint helping to soften the footprint. Over 200 hours design and coordination time has been spent creating this warm night environment, set off by the jewel effect residential entrance offering an inviting and exclusive kerb appeal for owners and visitors.

  • Report on Car Parking in York
Report on car parking in York Recently there has been much debate about car parking provision in York's city centre. In January 2021 City of York Council approved the construction of a 372-space multi-storey car park on the site of the current St George's Field car park. In February 2021 the council approved an application for a 636-space multi-storey car park at the front of York railway station. It's anticipated that a further multi-storey car park (with 664 spaces) on the York Central Development will be approved at some point in the near future. These decisions have generated considerable debate as the building of large multi storey car parks seem at odds with City of York council's net-zero carbon and low car use commitments, but as yet there has been very little data or evidence available for people to form their opinions around. We understand that the council will be providing an in-depth assessment of car parking in York, and that senior councillors will be given an opportunity to re-consider the St George's Field multi-storey car park as they contemplate the city's post-Covid recovery strategy. We welcome this report and the oversight that it will provide. This short report is a summary of car parking provision in York and is intended to provide some broader context and to provoke thought about how car parking decisions will impact York's future development and growth. The report has been compiled by Johnny Hayes and Kate Ravilious with contributions from a number of other local people including data analysis provided by Jamie Wood.
