A total of 64 matches are to be played in twelve cities accross Brazil. For the first time at a world cup finals, the matches will use goal-line techno- logy. It focuses on the recent proliferation of neo-Pentecostalism among Brazilian football players living abroad and the importance of religion in their daily lives. Serving as a civilizing device that promotes better insertion of individuals in modern institutions, neo-Pentecostalism promotes voluntary obedience, self-control, self-awareness and reflexivity, by encouraging the conscious and constant monitoring of the individual over the body and emotions. This self-discipline has a limit, and the Theology of Prosperity offers conciliation between asceticism and material consumption. Football provides religion a large stage for its preaching, allowing it to reach billions of homes. The athletes become “selfless soldiers of the Word,” who demonstrate the faith globally and disseminate banal religion through the mediascape. It’s long been a standard joke – or cliche, if you like – to say that an attacking full­ back is “more of a winger than a full­back.” That’s particularly been true of Brazilian ADVERT full­backs down the years – in recent times, most notably the combination of Cafu and Roberto Carlos, who started the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups in the full­ back positions for Brazil. Occasionally the mentality of these players has been exaggerated. Both the Chinese and the Greeks, before the Christian era, as well as the Florentines during the Renaissance, played games based on moving a sphere with their feet. Tsu-chu in China, Kemari, in Japan, Epyskiros, in Greece, and Harpastrum, in the Roman Empire, are some of the names of rudimentary forms of the game that became known as football. Developed by the English starting in the 12th century, it was only in the first half of the 19th century that football acquired a set of rules, seeking to differentiate it from rugby, another very popular sport in British schools. In 1863, the Football Association was created, consolidating the rules and organizing the first games and tournaments of the new sport.

Resumo Essa monografia visa discutir porque os jogadores do futebol brasileiro deixam seu país. Por ser o esporte mais praticado e de maior importância para os brasileiros, o futebol é um aspecto importante na vida social dos mesmos. Dividido em três capítulos, inicialmente são discutidas as considerações iniciais sobre o tema, como as migrações internacionais e a globalização do futebol. Depois, os motivos que levam os jogadores a saírem do país, tais como suas origens sociais, a violência no Brasil, a influência das convocações para a seleção brasileira, os fatores econômicos e aspectos relativos à gestão dos clubes brasileiros. Em seguida, será estudado o caso comparativo com o futebol inglês, a crise do subprime e suas conseqüências para o futebol. Astronomical salaries, sponsorships pompous and influence in the media are major world figures. Their habits, tastes and preferences are diffused and imitated by fans everywhere. To give relevance and resonance to the actions of these personalities, the media produces, by scheduling the news in order to maintain visibility of the athlete, through essays, reports or articles. The sports field, especially soccer, is occupying large spaces in world society. According Mezzaroba and Pires (2010, p.125), "the sport exerts fascination in people (...) it is important to consider the aesthetic enchantment produced by the sports performance, with his speeches, images and sounds, expert opinions and also the publicity involved in this new marketing product that is spectacularized sport.” It is worth mentioning that the media directly influences the construction of idols. Through dissemination of information, tastes, behavior of these personalities, people are induced to use and do the same things as different haircuts among others. In this context of sports journalism, then, focuses on the Brazilian player Neymar Jr., who works in Barcelona, Spain team. The player is the focus of national and international news, whether print, portals and other media, hence it is the target in this study.
