EPISODE 200 "PEACE OF MURPHY" Written by REDACTED Directed by REDACTED PRODUCTION DRAFT 08/01/15 FULL BLUE 08/05/15 The Asylum Los Angeles 45315 FADE IN: 1 EXT. COUNTRY ROAD - DAY 1 We open on a desolate stretch of back-road. The mid-day sun beats down. There’s no noise. No crickets chirping. Like most places in this world: dead and way too quiet. A RUSTED BILLBOARD casts a shadow across the sweltering tarmac. A cartoon bear warning visitors that “ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES”. Behind the billboard, in the distance - AN ATOMIC FIRE RAVAGES THE LANDSCAPE. SLOW FOOTSTEPS break the silence. A WOUNDED-MAN drags himself down the road. Blackened and burned: The clothes are literally falling from his back. He’s sick and desperate - A victim of radiation poisoning. The Wounded-Man reaches the shadow of the billboard before stumbling - And collapsing to his knees. He looks towards the sky. Coughs. WOUNDED-MAN Please. Somebody... Anybody? ANGLE ON: A VEHICLE APPROACHING FROM THE DISTANCE The man smiles, his prayers have been answered. WOUNDED-MAN (CONT’D) Oh God, stop. Please stop. He climbs to his feet with what strength he can muster and frantically waves his arms around. The Truck continues its approach - It’s not slowing down. He realizes - and DASHES to the side - just as the vehicle speeds past. SCREECH! - The Truck comes to a complete stop just past the billboard. Brake-lights shine. The truck reverses back towards the bewildered man. The driver side window rolls down, revealing the mans savior - MURPHY sitting at the wheel with ROBERTA riding shotgun.

  • Amazon and IMDB Sued for Not Respecting Elders | Page 1
Amazon And IMDB Sued FOr Not Respecting Elders | Page 1 Amazon And IMDB Sued FOr Not Respecting Elders By: Jack Greiner on October 19, 2011 on graydon.law Well, sort of. An actress who identifies herself as Jane Doe has sued the Internet Movie Database Web site, and its parent company, Amazon, for revealing her actual age. I’m not making that up. Here’s the actual complaint, which was filed in a federal court in Seattle. In case you haven’t used it, IMDB is a Web site that has detailed information on any movie ever made. I personally love it. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve watched a movie on TV and wondered who the actor was in some small role, and where I’d seen him before. IMDB has all that information. But I digress. According to the complaint, Jane Doe is of Asian descent, and her given name is difficult for Americans to spell and pronounce. She has for that reason used a stage name throughout her career. She is also very careful not to provide personal information, including her true age. According to the complaint, “[i]n the entertainment industry, youth is king. If one is perceived to be “over-the-hill” i.e., approaching 40, it is nearly impossible for an up-and-coming actress, such as plaintiff, to get work.” IMDB also offers a service called IMDbPro, which offers “industry insider” information to paying customers. Ms. Doe signed up for the service and in so doing, provided her name, birth date and other personal information.

Justice Stevens, who died Tuesday at the age of 99, wrote the 1978 decision that affirmed the Federal Communications Commission has modest power to oversee the content that broadcasters air during daytime hours and can fine stations that promote content unsuitable for children. Despite arguments that the oversight impinged on stations’ First Amendment freedoms, Justice Stevens’ decision cast broadcast outlets as a uniquely accessible kind of speech that deserved closer scrutiny. “It’s still the one place where you can have your family watching, knowing there is a legitimate consequence if somebody goes too far,” said Tim Winter, president of the Parents Television Council. As a result, the FCC has been able to warn and fine broadcasters that air "indecent" curse words or nudity during daytime hours, although the agency's attempt to penalize CBS for pop star Janet Jackson’s fleeting breast exposure during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show flubbed on a technicality.

MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT AND DENYING XAVIER BECERRA, DEFENDANTS' MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT Defendant Re: Dkt. Nos. 78, 79 SCREEN ACTORS GUILD-AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TELEVISION AND RADIO ARTISTS, Defendant-Intervenor. Assembly Bill 1687 forbids IMDb from publishing certain truthful age-related information about those in the entertainment industry. See Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83.5 (codifying AB 1687, 2015-16 Reg. Sess. (Cal. 2016)). The Court entered a preliminary injunction to prevent California from enforcing the statute while this litigation was pending because of the strong likelihood that the statute violates the First Amendment. IMDb.com, Inc. v. Becerra, No. 16-CV-06535-VC, 2017 WL 772346 (N.D. Cal. Feb. 22, 2017). California and SAG-AFTRA's arguments on summary judgment do nothing to change the analysis. I. First, California and SAG-AFTRA provide no reason to apply a lower level of judicial scrutiny to the statute than was applied at the preliminary injunction stage. AB 1687 cannot properly be considered a regulation of voluntary commercial contracts Case 3:16-cv-06535-VC Document 91 Filed 02/20/18 Page 2 of 6 rather than a speech restriction. Upon the request of a subscriber to IMDbPro, the law requires IMDb to remove age-related information from its public-facing website, IMDb.com, regardless of the source of the information on IMDb.com.

  • The Troubled Television Program Haven Season 2 Syfy Channel
The Troubled Television Program By Fearless Young Orphan Haven Season 2 SyFy Channel TV Series WELL THANK GOODNESS the SyFy channel finally fixed all those terrible problems that Haven was having in the first season. If you’ll recall, last year I did a scathing review of that trash heap of a show and listed all the reasons why it just sucked so bad that it made Baby Jesus cry. Yes, it turns out that humorous, thoughtful and poignant television programs with fleshed-out characters and charm to spare must make Baby Jesus cry, so the creators of Haven quickly rethought their creative process to change all that, producing instead a dull, glum cliché of every X-Files wannabe since 1993, beating the life and charm out of all its characters until we have a show that makes Baby Jesus rethink his television choices altogether. I’ve had a few shows break my heart, and it’s never easy. The X-Files was one such show; SyFy’s reboot of Battlestar Gallactica was another. Man, that puppy crashed like the ever-lovin’ Hindenburg. If you’d like to hear a case study of my reality-based problems, I’d be happy to dish, but you’ll have to email me because I won’t take the time here. Haven was not as beloved to me as those two shows. But it was a real pleasure back in Season 1, and I was truly looking forward to Season 2. Staring Season 2 sent up a lot of red flags, though. For a couple episodes, it seemed that the show was having trouble finding its footing.

  • THE MAN in the IRON CAGE (A Sermon on Apostasy) Hebrews 6:4-9
THE MAN IN THE IRON CAGE (A sermon on apostasy) Hebrews 6:4-9 We come, this morning, to one of the most difficult passages in the entire Bible. The topic is apostasy. The text is Hebrews chapter 6… Hebrews 6:4-9 As Christians who believe the teaching of the Bible, we have come to believe that our salvation is God's work, from beginning to end. We understand that people are saved when, in repentance, they turn in faith to Jesus Christ. There is a DECISION that must be made on the part of the individual. For people are not BORN Christians. As I often heard when growing up, the idea that just because one is born in America does makes one a Christian any more than being born in a garage makes one an automobile. Where we were born, or To what parents we were born doesn't make one a Christian. Rather, we become Christians when we each, by faith, trust Christ as our Lord and Savior. But, as Christians who believe the teaching of the Bible, we believe that even that act of deciding to follow Jesus is not made in some sort of spiritual vacuum that is void of God's Holy Spirit or His convicting of us of our sins. We are saved, the Bible says in Ephesians 2, "by grace, through faith" but even that faith didn't come out of the blue. It was a gift from God. So God's granting us the faith to believe in His Son was all part of God's plan to save us.
