UCOL and Massey University also provide funding to allow their students and staff to enjoy free travel within Palmerston North. FARE INFORMATION WHAT IS A GoCard OR MONTHLY PASS? GoCard and Monthly Pass are pre-paid travel cards that entitle you to cheaper travel and save you from worrying about having the correct change. A Monthly Pass allows you one month’s unlimited travel from first use. Simply pass your card within 5 centimetres of the electronic reader on the bus and you are ready to go. Pick up your GoCard or Monthly Pass from the driver. HOW MUCH DO THEY COST? Your initial GoCard will cost $12, with $5 of travel already loaded. Initial Adult Monthly Pass costs $62; monthly top up $55. Initial Child Monthly Pass costs $42; monthly top up $35. All new/replacement cards have a one-off $7 administration fee. You can top up your GoCard and Monthly Pass balances on the bus with cash or at the Tranzit office with EFTPOS (minimum GoCard top-up $10). Please keep your receipt and check the amount loaded is correct. Horizons Regional Council and Tranzit take no responsibility for damaged or lost cards and credit balances can not be transferred. ONE HOUR FREE TRANSFER Purchase any single one-way ticket on any Palmerston North city bus and get one free transfer onto another city service within one hour of the original ticket purchase time. Not to be used for return journeys. Enter your current location, where you would like to go and when you would like to arrive/leave and the app matches you to the right bus. 4 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Help I've left something on the bus, who do I call? Give the bus operator a call on 06 355 4955. Please note no responsibility will be accepted by the bus operator or Horizons Regional Council for lost property. I'm a Massey/UCOL student or staff member, how do I catch the bus for free? Make sure you have your current student/staff ID ready when you catch the bus. Your ID means you can travel for free on the Palmerston North services. Current students and staff based in Palmerston North, with active smart cards, can travel for free. All other ID allows discounted travel only. I need to catch two buses to get across town, do I have to pay two fares? As long as you are catching your second bus within one hour of your original trip you simply need to have your original ticket with you and show it to the next driver. Transfers are not valid for return trips. Buses are wheelchair accessible, what does that mean? Wheelchair accessible buses are low floored, so no more steps to climb up, and there is enough room for wheelchairs to fit. Please note if your wheelchair takes up a space of more than 700mm wide and 1200mm long and/or has a combined weight (passenger and chair) of more than 240kgs it cannot be carried. Can I take a bike on the bus? Yes, Buses can carry two bikes at a time, on a first come first served basis. The racks are designed to carry bikes with wheels larger than 16 inches.     The Kahuterawa Reserve & Fitzherbert West Water Race Scheme Part One: Goals and Actions 1 The Kahuterawa Reserve & Fitzherbert West Water Race Scheme The Kahuterawa Reserve and the Fitzherbert West Water Race Scheme From Palmerston North The Kahuterawa Reserve1 (the Reserve) was created in 1969 with the addition of 8 ½ acres (3.44 hectares) of land owned by the Satherley family. Kairanga County Council records show a resolution to pay £120 per acre ($4,295 Kahuterawa Reserve per hectare in 2008 dollars2), however there is no record of any payment ever being made. The Satherleys note that the land was donated to Council. The Reserve contains remnants of the Fitzherbert West Water Race Scheme. The Reserve was a successful project between the Kairanga County Council (the Council), the Satherleys and the Manawatu Lions Club. Reserve development was a large project for the Lions Group, over three years. The toilet block was constructed by Lyn Christensen and the Council carted boulders. Over the weekends the Lions plastered and assembled the boulder walls. Trees were planted on the land on the western side of the river by the Council. In July 1970 the Council officially called the reserve “Kahuterawa Park”. To many it Intake to water scheme was called the Lions Park due to the large amount of work the Lions had put into it. When local government reorganisation took place in 1989 the Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) took over the Reserve. PNCC added 0.39 hectares (Lot 4 DP 80726) in 1997. Greetings to all families and friends of Aokautere School. As the second week of the lockdown (rahui) holidays comes to an end, our attention turns to rolling out distance learning. I am aware of a number of emails that have been sent by teachers to ensure every Aokautere School student has access to the class Seesaw platform. It is important that our families have access to this platform as teachers will be making announcements via Seesaw. Parents can also send (private) messages to the classroom teacher if unsure about certain aspects of learning. Currently, we can see that 97% of students have accessed their Seesaw account. As of next week, the school would like to see 100% actively using Seesaw and the ‘lessons/activities’ posted. Teachers will be making all announcements via Seesaw.
