James Aquilina is Executive Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel at Stroz Friedberg. In this role, he contributes to the management of the firm and the handling of its legal affairs. In addition to having responsibility for the Los Angeles office, he supervises numerous digital forensic and electronic discovery assignments for major law firms, government agencies, and corporate management and information systems departments in criminal, civil, regulatory and internal corporate matters.

Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Mr. Aquilina was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of , where he served as a Computer and Telecommunications Coordinator in the Cyber and Intellectual Property Crimes Section. He also served as a member of the Los Angeles Electronic Crimes Task Force, and as chair of the Computer Intrusion Working Group. He also served in the Major Frauds and Terrorism/ Organized Crime Sections, where he investigated and tried cases. In the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks, Mr. Aquilina helped establish and run the legal section of the FBI’s Emergency Operations Center. Before public service, Mr. Aquilina was an associate at the law firm Richards, Spears, Kibbe & Orbe in New York.

Mr. Aquilina received his B.A. magna cum laude from Georgetown University, and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he was a Richard Erskine Academic Fellow and served as an Articles Editor and Executive Committee Member of the California Law Review. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Irma E. Gonzalez, U.S. District Judge, Southern District of California.

He serves as an Honorary Council Member on cyber-law issues for the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants, the organization that administers the Certified Ethical Hacker and the Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator certifications to leading security industry professionals worldwide.

E. Jane Arnault-Factor

Jane Arnault-Factor has been President and CEO of JurEcon Inc., Consultants to Counsel and Management since 1981. JurEcon is a consulting firm of twenty-two Ph.D.’s, experts in economics, finance, accounting, statistics, market research, etc. JurEcon provides services in complex valuations, lost profits and damages, economic and financial analysis, and related topics as well as jury research and trial strategy.

Ms. Arnault-Factor received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and her B.A. from Smith College. Ms. Arnault-Factor was formerly a professor of economics at Pomona College, Occidental College, Pitzer College and Rutgers University. Ms. Arnault-Factor serves on the boards of directors of the California Chamber of Commerce, where she chaired the Health Care Committee for twelve years, Delta Dental Plan of California (1991-1997), and has been a long-time member of the Advisory Committee for Blue Shield of California. Her community involvement has included service on several other boards. Ms. Arnault-Factor served as the public member of the State Bar of California’s Committee on Public Responsibility and Conduct.

Ms. Arnault-Factor has been a Panelist for California Continuing Education of the Bar on Proving Damages and a panelist for the State Bar of California on Expert Witness Strategy and Tactics. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Antitrust Section of the L. A. County Bar Association. In addition, she has testified as an expert witness and often serves as project director for larger JurEcon projects involving teams of experts.

Bob Aronoff specializes in real estate, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, leasing, and landlord tenant law.

A native of Ohio, Mr. Aronoff moved, at the age of 12, with his family to Los Angeles. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver in 1976 where he was the Senior Editor of the Denver Law Forum. He is the author of several published articles on bankruptcy, litigation and landlord-tenant law. Mr. Aronoff has served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court since 1981. He is a Trustee of the Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Los Angeles. He chairs several committees for the Beverly Hills Bar Association which has given him several awards and has designated him to the Order of Distinguished Attorneys. Mr. Aronoff joined the CRF board in 1995, having actively supported CRF activities since 1977 and having received CRF’s Lawyer of the Year award in 1984. He received it again in 2005, and has chaired CRF’s Education and Program Oversight Committee since 2004.

Mr. Aronoff lives in Hermosa Beach where he has been a Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Community Resources. He enjoys skiing and travel. He is Founder of the Hermosa Beach Film Festival and President of the Method Fest Film Festival. As a part-time entrepreneur, he introduced Segway Human Transporters to Los Angeles.

Nestor Barrero is Vice President - Employment Counsel for NBC Universal Studios. He is actively involved in providing preventive legal advice and training for managers, overseeing employment litigation and developing internal policies and procedures affecting the Universal’s workforce in the corporate, studio operations, motion pictures, television, and theme park businesses. Mr. Barrero also advises the Universal Music Group in similar areas of law and operations. He is also responsible for counseling management on all employment legal matters, including executive recruitment, employee relations, planning for employee issues in mergers and acquisitions, implementation of work force reductions, and federal and state legislative issues affecting entertainment industry employers.

Prior to joining Universal in 1998, Mr. Barrero was Senior Counsel for Union Bank of California and was associated with the law firms of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton and McCutchen, Black, Verleger & Shea in Los Angeles. He is a member of the California State Bar Labor and Employment Law Section and is a frequent speaker and lecturer. He has been an instructor on “Sexual Harassment in the Entertainment Industry” for UCLA Extension and on employment law topics for the Continuing Education of the Bar and the Institute for Corporate Counsel. He is on the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Corporate Law Departments Section, and is a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association.

Mr. Barrero received his BA in Psychology from UCLA and his JD degree from UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He has served as President of the California Employment Law Council, an employer association that includes most of California’s largest employers in its membership. He is bilingual in Spanish and is active in community organizations such as the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the Latino Lawyers Association and the California Hispanic Corporate Council.

Darin Beffa is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. His practice covers commercial contract, business tort, fraud, antitrust, and patent infringement, including complex cases and appeals. In law school, Darin performed clinical work for the Berkman Center for Internet & Society, while also doing work on the board of a student-run business. Darin began his legal education at the Law School, and was selected to join the Michigan Law Review shortly before transferring to Harvard Law School to complete his studies. Before law school, Darin spent time in Washington, D.C., working as an aide to U.S. Representative George R. Nethercutt Jr. Since that time, he has also worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, and served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge George H. King.

Alan N. Braverman

Alan Braverman is the Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel of The Walt Disney Company. He was promoted to his current position in October 2003, after being named Executive Vice President and General Counsel in January 2003. He was appointed Secretary in October 2005. In his position, Mr. Braverman is the chief legal officer of the company and oversees its team of attorneys responsible for all aspects of Disney's legal affairs around the world. He reports directly to Bob Iger.

Previously, Mr. Braverman was Executive Vice President and General Counsel, ABC Inc., and Deputy General Counsel of The Walt Disney Company. In that capacity, he oversaw the legal affairs of the ABC Broadcast Group, ESPN and Disney/ABC Cable, as well as labor relations. In August 1996, he was named Senior Vice President and General Counsel of ABC, Inc, and in 1994, he was promoted to Vice President and General Counsel. He joined ABC, Inc. in November 1993, as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. In his positions with ABC, Inc., he had broad responsibilities for the operation of the legal department, government relations, and the corporation's legal affairs. During his tenure at ABC, he guided the company through numerous lawsuits regarding news reporting and news gathering practices, supervised the Company's labor department, and oversaw the government relations function for Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. prior to its merger with Disney.

Mr. Braverman joined Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. from the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, where he started in 1976. He became a partner in 1983, specializing in complex commercial and administrative litigation. Before joining Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, he was a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas W. Pomeroy, Jr., Justice, Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Mr. Braverman, a native of Boston, Massachusetts, received a B.A. degree from Brandeis University in 1969 and subsequently worked for two years as a Vista volunteer in Gary, Indiana. In 1975, he received a J.D. degree summa cum laude from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he was also editor-in-chief of the Law Review.

Joe Calabrese, managing partner at O’Melveny & Myers, has worked extensively in the firm’s traditional entertainment practice and the firm’s specialized entertainment and media finance practice. His banking experience took him to Europe for two years (1986-1988) to help open the firm’s London office, where he continued to represent studios, financial institutions, producers, and completion guarantors in their production, finance, and distribution of motion pictures and television programs. Mr. Calabrese currently represents major producers, studios, and financial institutions in their motion picture, television, and music industry transactions. He is actively involved in the Entertainment Department’s European practice area, routinely providing advice to American companies doing business in Europe and to European companies seeking to establish or expand their presence in the . He has also represented clients in themed-attraction ventures and projects.

Mr. Calabrese is a member of the International Section of the American Bar Association, the Century City Bar Association, and the ABA Task Force on Alternative Dispute Resolution in the Entertainment Industry. He is also an arbitrator for the American Film Marketing Association.

Mr. Calabrese obtained his B. A. from Boston College, summa cum laude, 1978 and his J.D. from Cornell Law School, cum laude, 1981.

Joanne Caruso is the Vice President & Director of Global Litigation at Jacobs Engineering Group. Ms. Caruso represents Fortune 500 clients in all stages of federal and state court litigation throughout the United States. Her extensive commercial litigation experience includes complex commercial contracts, antitrust, unfair competition and unfair business practices, patent infringement matters, franchise relationships, real estate partnership disputes, and insurance recovery. She has participated in numerous trials, mediations, and arbitrations.

Ms. Caruso serves on the California Commission on Access to Justice, a 24-member commission established to explore ways to improve access to civil justice for Californians living on low and moderate incomes. In 2006, Ms. Caruso was named one of the top 100 attorneys in California and from 2005 - 2010 she has been listed as one of "California’s Top 75 Women Litigators" by the Los Angeles/San Francisco Daily Journal. Ms. Caruso has been ranked by Chambers USA and has been recognized as one of Southern California’s “Super Lawyers” in the area of Business Litigation. Malissia Clinton is senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary for The Aerospace Corporation. Her responsibilities include providing legal advice and counsel at the senior management level, managing corporate transactions of the board of trustees and its committees, and maintaining custody of corporate records.

Prior to Aerospace, Ms. Clinton served as senior counsel for special projects in the Office of the General Counsel Northrop Grumman’s corporate offices in Century City, where she specialized in corporate governance and securities. Prior to joining the corporate office, she worked within the Space Technology sector as the senior counsel. As an undergraduate she worked summers as an analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman she worked for the law firm of Tuttle and Taylor in Los Angeles, from 1993 to 1998.

Ms. Clinton graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in 1990. She received her JD from Stanford University in 1993, where she was an editor of the Stanford Law Review and published Refugees, Racism, and Reparations: A Critique of the United States’ Haitian Immigration Policy. In 2007, Ms. Clinton graduated from the UCLA Anderson School, Executive Program in Business Management.

Ms. Clinton has served as a member of the State Bar Legal Services Trust Fund Commission and the Board of Directors of San Fernando Valley Neighborhood Legal Services, Inc. She is married to Ronald Clinton, a pharmacist and pharmacy owner. They reside in Manhattan Beach with their three children Michai, Rachel, and Roi.

Vince Davitt is a Partner at Meylan Davitt Jain & Arevian LLP. He focuses his practice on insurance, reinsurance, and commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf where he handled civil lawsuits and arbitrations, including complex insurance and commercial disputes.

Mr. Davitt has represented insurers in a wide variety of coverage and bad-faith lawsuits and arbitrations, including first-party coverage disputes involving property, health, and professional sports and other disability claims, and third-party coverage disputes involving general liability, professional liability, construction, and environmental claims. In the commercial litigation area, Mr. Davitt has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of matters at the trial and appellate levels.

He is a graduate of the Advanced Trial Advocacy Program of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Under the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Trial Attorney Project, he acted as a Deputy City Attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. Mr. Davitt has also participated in various criminal appellate projects, where he has represented indigent defendants on appeals.

Kimberly A. Dunne is a partner in the Litigation group in the Los Angeles office and a co-chair of the firm’s White Collar Practice group. Ms. Dunne has extensive experience in corporate internal investigations and white collar criminal defense generally. Ms. Dunne has defended a number of government investigations and False Claims Act cases related to alleged health care fraud, FDA violations, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, false claims, kickbacks, bribery, government contract fraud and accounting improprieties. Ms. Dunne’s practice also focuses on complex civil litigation. Ms. Dunne has extensive jury trial experience as well as appellate experience in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Dunne was Chief of the Public Corruption and Government Fraud Section of the United States Attorney’s Office in the Central District of California where she prosecuted a variety of white collar crime matters, including health care fraud, defense procurement fraud, bank fraud, tax fraud, government program fraud, public corruption and money laundering.

After graduating with high honors from Claremont McKenna College in 1985, Ms. Dunne received her law degree from Harvard Law School and a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 1989. Prior to joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Ms. Dunne clerked for United States District Judge John G. Davies in the Central District of California.

Ms. Dunne has been a featured speaker and panelist at numerous conferences addressing health care fraud and abuse issues, compliance plans and white collar crime issues. She has also taught trial advocacy at the Department of Justice’s Advanced Trial Advocacy Institute and Pepperdine Law School.

Ms. Dunne was recognized by Chambers USA as a leading white collar lawyer. She has also been named as one of the Daily Journal’s Top Women Litigators, the list of leading women litigators in California for 2010. Most recently, Ms. Dunne was recognized in the 2011 and 2012 editions of The Best Lawyers in America in Criminal Defense: White Collar.

Joel Feuer is a partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP’s Los Angeles office. He initially joined the firm in 1981 and rejoined in 1984. A member of the firm’s Litigation Department, Mr. Feuer focuses his practice on business, securities, real estate, legal malpractice litigation, and directors’ and officers’ liability insurance matters.

Mr. Feuer graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 from Pomona College. He received his Master of Arts degree from University College, Oxford University in 1978 and his law degree from the University of California Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law in 1981, where he served as Supreme Court Editor of the California Law Review. From 1983 to 1984, Mr. Feuer served as the first law clerk to Judge Pamela Rymer of the United States District Court.

A member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Mr. Feuer has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Central and Northern Districts and all California state courts. Raymond C. Fisher

Ray Fisher was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by President Clinton and confirmed by the Senate in October 1999. He began his active service on the Court in December 1999.

Judge Fisher graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1961 with a B.A. in Political Science, and received his L.L.B. degree in 1966 from Stanford Law School. After law school, he clerked for Justice William J. Brennan, Jr. at the United States Supreme Court and, the year prior for Judge J. Skelly Wright of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Judge Fisher founded the Los Angeles office of Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe in 1988 where he specialized in complex business litigation. Before that he was a partner in the Tuttle & Taylor law firm.

President Clinton appointed Judge Fisher as the Associate Attorney General of the United States in November 1997. He oversaw the work of the Civil, Civil Rights, Antitrust, Tax, and Environment & Natural Resources divisions. He also had oversight responsibility for the Office of Justice programs, the COPS community-policing program, the Office of Tribal Justice, and the Executive Office of United States Trustees (Bankruptcy).

Active in public service, Judge Fisher was appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan to the five-member Los Angeles Police Commission and was elected its president in 1996. He also served as Deputy General Counsel for the Independent Commission on the Los Angeles Police Department (the “Christopher Commission”) in 1991. Judge Misher is a former President of the Constitutional Rights Foundation and was awarded the Bill of Rights Award in 1994.

Judge Fisher is married to Nancy Fisher, a public high school English teacher. They have two married children and four grandchildren.

Alan Friedman is a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson. He has practiced employment relations law in Los Angeles since 1966. He was president of CRF’s Board of Directors from 1992 through 1993, and was awarded the Lloyd S. Smith Award in 1996.

Mr. Friedman received his AB degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1960 and his LL.B degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1963 where he served on the Board of the Law Review. He did extensive work in labor relations and civil rights law at the U.S. Department of Labor from 1963 until 1966 while earning an LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center. Since 1999, Mr. Friedman has served on the Board of the Office of Compliance, which applies labor laws to the employees of the U.S. Congress. He is a past chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Labor Law Section, served as labor relations counsel to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee and was a member of the Mayor Bradley’s Labor-Management Advisory Committee. Mr. Friedman was also on the Los Angeles Board of Civil Service Commissioners and was its president from 1985 to 1986. From 1990 to 1991 he was President of the Board of Bet Tzedek (House of Justice) Legal Services and continues to sit on its Board.

His wife, Susan, is a network news producer at NBC. They have two daughters.

Haley J. Fromholz

Haley Fromholz is an arbitrator and mediator with JAMS, The Resolution Experts. Judge Fromholz works full-time resolving disputes in a wide variety of areas including complex business litigation, trade secrets, unfair trade practices, breach of contract, warranty and fiduciary duties, wrongful termination, fraud, lender liability, product liability, and class actions.

Prior to joining JAMS, Judge Fromholz served as a Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles County. While on the bench, he was Chairman of the court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and a member of the court’s Executive Committee. Before joining the bench, Judge Fromholz was a partner in the litigation practice of Morrison & Foerster for 21 years, where he held a variety of management positions including Chairman of the Los Angeles Litigation Group and Managing Partner of the Los Angeles Office.

In 1998 and 1999 Judge Fromholz served as President of CRF, and from 1990 to 1993, he was chairman of the Lawyers Advisory Council. In 1991, he chaired the Annual Fund Drive for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. He has been a vice chairman of the Mediation Committee of the American Bar Association Section on Dispute Resolution, and chairman of the American Bar Association Section of Science and Technology, of the State Bar of California Committee on Computers and Law, of the Client Relations Committee of the Bar Association of San Francisco, and a trustee of the San Francisco County Law Library. He has lectured at the University of California at Berkeley’s School of Law, for the Practicing Law Institute, and for other professional and judicial organizations, on subjects related to complex litigation. Judge Fromholz is a member of the American Law Institute and of the Chancery Club.

Judge Fromholz attended Dartmouth College, received his AB in 1964 from New York University, and his LL.B in 1967 from Duke University Law School. He is an Honorary Life Member of the law school’s Board of Visitors.

Greg Gelfan

Greg Gelfan is the Executive Vice President of Fox Filmed Entertainment, and Executive Vice President of Fox Entertainment Group. In his capacity for the motion picture company, Mr. Gelfan oversees legal and business affairs as well as human resources and general administrative matters for the company and its various units. As Executive Vice President of Fox Entertainment Group, the parent company of all Fox companies, Mr. Gelfan is the senior legal executive with responsibilities that include oversight of Fox's litigation, intellectual property, and content protection groups, as well as corporate and senior executive negotiations for the company.

Mr. Gelfan joined Fox in February 1994, after 10 years at Paramount Pictures, where he last served as Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for the motion picture group. Previously Mr. Gelfan was an entertainment lawyer in private practice; first at Kaplan, Livingston, Goodwin, Berkowitz and Selvin and then at Weissmann, Wolff, Bergman, Coleman and Schulman.

Warren Jackson is vice president and associate general counsel of DirecTV Group, Inc. He joined the company, formerly Hughes Electronic Corporation, in 1984 from the law firm of O'Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles as corporate staff counsel responsible for employment and labor law. He was named senior counsel in 1988 and in 1996 he was named assistant general counsel. In 1997, Mr. Jackson was named vice president of Workforce Diversity.

Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan appointed Mr. Jackson in June 1996 to the Los Angeles Police Commission. He was on the commission until early 2001 and served as vice president for three years. From 1991 to 1999, he served two four-year terms on the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission. He was a trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and served on the City of Los Angeles Civil Service Commission from 1994 to 1996, ending his term as vice president. He was also a deputy general counsel of the William Webster Commission, which reviewed and reported on the Los Angeles Police Department's performance during the April 1992 civil disturbance in Los Angeles.

In 1991, Mr. Jackson was named In-House Counsel of the Year by the John M. Langston Bar Association, and is a past member of its board of directors.

John Kronstadt is a district judge on the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He was confirmed by the US Senate on April 14, 2011. He received his judicial commission on April 14, 2011. He previously served as a judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court, appointed by Governor Davis in October 2002. Prior to this appointment, Judge Kronstadt was a partner at Arnold & Porter in Los Angeles, where he represented clients in complex, commercial litigation matters

Judge Kronstadt received his J.D. degree from Yale Law School in 1976 and his A.B. degree from Cornell University in 1973. Following graduation from law school, he served as law clerk to William P. Gray, in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. From 1978 to 1985, he was an associate, then partner, in the Washington D.C. office of Arnold & Porter, where his practice concentrated on trade regulation and antitrust matters. Between 1985 and 2000, he was a partner in the Century City firm of Blanc Williams Johnston & Kronstadt. During those 15 years, Judge Kronstadt litigated a range of cases involving copyright, trademark and trade secret issues. He also served as counsel on many other types of matters, including the defense of shareholder actions, disputes over the sale of businesses, antitrust issues and environment matters including several arising under California’s Proposition 65.

Judge Kronstadt has served as a Vice-President, Trustee, Executive Committee member and Committee Chair for the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has also served on the Executive Committee and Lawyers’ Advisory Council of the CRF. Judge Kronstadt is also a member of the Chancery Club. He is an avid runner, hiker and photographer and enjoys driving his father’s 1948 Willy’s Jeepster.

Sharon Matsumoto is an Assistant District Attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Ms. Matsumoto has been a judge and scorer for CRF's Mock Trial program since 1986 and participated in the Lawyer in the Classroom program from 1990-1996. Ms. Matsumoto was named CRF's Attorney of the Year in 1989.

Ms. Matsumoto received a BA in English and American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1972, and her J.D. from the University of San Fernando Valley, College of Law in 1978. She is married to Ron Rose, a Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner, and they live in Los Angeles.

Kevin C. Alan Rothenberg is a Past President of CRF’s Board of Directors, founder of its Sports and the Law Program, and the 1990 recipient of CRF’s Bill of Rights Award. He is also a mediator/arbitrator, having retired as a partner from the Los Angeles-based law firm of Latham & Watkins.

Mr. Rothenberg received his BA in 1960, and his JD, with distinction, in 1963, from the University of Michigan. While in law school, he was initiated into the Order of Coif, and was presented with numerous awards for his superior scholarship. Admitted to practice in California State and Federal Courts in January 1964, Mr. Rothenberg specialized in litigation, business and commercial law. He is a member of: the State Bar of California and served as its President in 1989-90; the ABA; LACBA; and both the Beverly Hills and Century City Bar Associations (where he is Past-President).

Active in community organizations, Mr. Rothenberg has served on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles, the United Jewish Fund, The Music Center, Fraternity of Friends (where he was Past President), and the Board of Trustees of the California Museum of Science and Industry Foundation. Peggy Saferstein is a Private Educational Consultant and College Counselor for nearly 20 years with her company, College Circuit. She has served the field of education in a variety of capacities throughout her career. A 1965 graduate of UC Berkeley, Ms. Saferstein went on to receive a Masters in Education from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA, where she specialized in curriculum development. She is a member of National Association for College Admission Counseling and Western Association for College Admission Counseling. Along with her partner, Patti Demoff, Ms. Saferstein contributes her expertise in college counseling by donating her time to counseling CRF Interns as well as doing workshops at college fairs and public schools throughout the city.

Ms. Saferstein's community involvement is extensive and her fundraising skills widely sought. She is a founder of MOCA and serves on their Project Council. She is an active member of the Women's Political Committee where she served two years as co- chairperson. Ms. Saferstein has served on the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Children's Museum, Teen Line and the Board of Letters and Science at UC Berkeley. While her children were growing up, she was an active member of the Harvard- Westlake and Curtis School Association boards. She also served on the LAUSD Community Advisory Council for School Improvement and as PTA President at Overland Avenue School for two years, and was given the PTA Honorary Life Achievement Award in 1976. She went on to serve as President of Overland's Community Advisory Council for three years. Ms. Saferstein has helped raise money for many campaigns over the years and now spends much of her time supporting female candidates.

Her husband, Harvey, is a lawyer and past president of the State Bar of California. They have three sons, two daughter-in-laws and five grandchildren.

Henry Shields, Jr. is a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group based in Drinker Biddle & Reath’s new Los Angeles office in Century City. Mr. Shields, most recently of Epstein Becker Green, was a partner in the litigation group of Irell & Manella LLP for over 25 years. He specializes in civil jury trials in state and federal courts, representing defendants and plaintiffs in a wide variety of complex commercial disputes. He has tried approximately thirty cases, including serving as trial counsel in numerous cases in which he has represented parties prominent in the entertainment industry.

Mr. Shields received his J.D. with honors in 1974 from the University of California at Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law, where he was an editor of the California Law Review. He was a 1968 honors graduate from Southern Illinois University.

Gene Shutler was born in Wichita Kansas. He received an A.B. in 1960 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar, and he received his law degree in 1963 from Yale Law School. Mr. Shutler served (to Captain) in the United States Army from 1963 – 1965.

During his career, Mr. Shutler was the General Counsel for several companies including Caesars World, Inc, MGM Grand, Inc., and Continental Air Services, Inc. He was also a Member of Troy & Gould from 1983 to 1991. Mr. Shutler has also held several executive positions with companies including President of Atlantic Crossing from 1997-2000, with postings in Bermuda and Dublin, Ireland. He currently manages his own investments.

Mr. Shutler currently serves on the Board of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. He previously served on CRF’s Board of Directors from 1976 – 1997, stepping down when he moved out of the country. He is married to Lois Evans, and they reside in Santa Monica.

Darry Sragow is a partner in the Public Law & Policy Strategies Group of Dentons. The Managing Partner of Dentons’ Los Angeles office, Mr. Sragow has more than 20 years of experience in the political arena. Experienced with political campaigns, Mr. Sragow has managed five statewide races in California, three for governor and two for the U.S. Senate. Marjorie Steinberg is a retired Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Prior to her appointment, she was a professor at the University of Southern California Law Center and a partner at the Los Angeles law firm of Tuttle & Taylor.

In 1968, Judge Steinberg graduated with honors and distinction in English from Stanford University. She then attended Johns Hopkins University, where she received an MAT in Teaching English. In 1972, she entered UCLA Law School, where she served as Editor- in-Chief of the UCLA Law Review, and received a JD, Order of the Coif, in 1975

Judge Steinberg is a life member of the Women Lawyers' Association of Los Angeles and was that organization's President from 1985 to 1986. She has served on the Board of Governors of the California Women Lawyers, the Board of Directors of the UCLA Law Alumni Association, and as a Trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. She currently serves as a Trustee of the Institute for the Redesign of Learning in South Pasadena. She was a member of the State Bar of California's Committee on the Status of Women and of the UCC Committee of the State Bar’s Business Law Section. Bob Stern, a partner at Morrison & Foerster, has been with the firm since 1991. He is a 1975 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, and he received his B.S. in 1972 from the University of Illinois. He clerked for the Honorable John Minor Wisdom, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, from 1975 to 1976, and then was employed by the Carter-Mondale Presidential campaign in a management position in Virginia.

Mr. Stern joined Tuttle & Taylor in 1977, and became a partner there in 1980 before joining Morrison & Foerster. Mr. Stern has represented clients in a wide variety of business litigation matters focusing particularly on securities, banking, and accountants’ liability litigation. He has passed the C.P.A. exam in Illinois and has represented public companies in litigation over financial statements and accounting firms on audit, tax, and consulting malpractice issues. He has also frequently represented issuers and their officers and directors in SEC investigations.

Mr. Stern has been a panelist and author for the annual Accountants’ Liability Program sponsored by the Practicing Law Institute and has lectured on numerous financial statement topics. He is a member of the Law and Accounting Committee and the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association. Greg Stone has been with Munger, Tolles & Olson since 1978. He joined the firm following a clerkship with the Honorable Wm. Matthew Byrne, Jr., now Chief United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

Mr. Stone graduated from Yale Law School in 1977 and previously obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Caltech in 1974. Mr. Stone is now the chair of his firm’s Policy Committee, its equivalent of managing partner. He is a litigator, currently focusing his practice on complex commercial cases, such as the litigation arising out of the grounding of the Exxon Valdez and the outbreak of E. Coli O157:H7 involving Jack In The Box, and in intellectual property cases, such as the defense of Svetlana Orgordnikova in a 1985 espionage prosecution of her and an FBI agent.

Mr. Stone has been very active in the community, including as the current Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Polytechnic School and chair of its just concluded capital campaign, which raised over $12 million for endowment and capital improvements. He also serves as a member of the Board of Pasadena Playhouse and still finds the time to referee soccer matches for AYSO. He has been involved with CRF for many years, and served as co-chair of the Lawyers Advisory Committee. He continues to lecture and teach, and has in the past been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Southwestern University School of Law and has taught at the Hastings Center for Trail and Appellate Advocacy.

Kathleen MacFarlane Waters is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice, leader of the Los Angeles Litigation Group, and co-leader of the Healthcare Group.

Ms. Waters serves clients in healthcare and banking industries with a focus on large scale commercial disputes and class actions. She has significant experience in the life science and healthcare fields, representing large health insurance companies, a nationwide dialysis provider, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and medical devices companies. In addition, her experience with banking industry includes acting as counsel for a large banking institution on a set of cases arising from the Washington Mutual receivership.

Ms. Waters has first chair trial experience and has served on national counsel teams in matters pertaining to silicone breast implants, latex, fen-phen, and asbestos litigation for various defendants. Her work includes the development and implementation of national strategies that involve conducting extensive discovery, pleading and motion practice, case management, mediation, and trial preparation. Ms. Waters' background also includes asbestos litigation and she is currently involved as part of a national counsel team for silica matters.

Ms. Waters’ product liability cases often involve complex scientific issues. As a result, she has significant experience with evidentiary challenges under Daubert.
